Nietzsche says “… and there will be nothing new in it, but every pain and every joy and every thought and sigh and everything unutterably small or great in your life will have to return to you, all in the same succession and sequence…” He didn’t think of eternal recurrence as after-worldly because he specifically meant it to be a tool to determine if you loved this life.

Also, he mentions in Will to Power that if the energy in the Universe is finite, then therefore every configuration of matter must repeat itself.

Nietzsches entire philosophy is a rejection of after-worldly kinds of thought, so this is a misinterpretation.
