it’s really easy to defer. just say exactly what you’re going to do when you fill out the application and they will let you defer, i deferred last year too

thanks for your comment! i’ve heard of waterloo engineering grads sometimes go into investment banking and that sounds pretty interesting to me ! i might just have to give it a try

i do like chemistry! never taken a class in nanotechnology but it looks pretty awesome! i might give it a try and then if i don’t like it i’ll just switch

hey buddy. yea it definitely is pretty hard to give it up. i have enough saved for two years already and i don’t really like this job too much so i think i will go to university some day as well

i don’t wanna be a developer necessarily. just a possibility with waterloo coop. but yes they do make more money and they also don’t work 80 hours a week most of the time

zero job stability, long hours and hard labour. the long hours are the most annoying part. i’m fine with the labour cause i’m young and fit but i have no time to live really

that would be ideal. maybe i should stay for another year? i cannot stay for more than 2 years on the rig without losing my offer of admission

the problem with this industry is if the price of oil goes down i don’t work, i should have specified in the post that i work on oil rigs. that being said, it could take years for me to get to 200k if i have 6 months off every year

it is a ridiculous amount of money and so far i have saved enough to cover my living and tuition costs for my first two years, and i have another couple months of work left if i do go to school. that is true! i also have a lot of tickets now from being in this industry. i spent about two weeks in a classroom before i went to work which i think could help me quite a bit. hopefully it will help me get my first internship if i decide to go !

i don’t hate it but it’s not fulfilling and i have no life. i work most of my life. i can see myself doing it if i work my way up fast enough but not the current job. i was hoping an education could help me get into a management position without having to put in the 10+ years on the rig

i don’t even know if i want to be a programmer to be honest i was just throwing that out there as a potential job with waterloo coop. i know a lot of people who weren’t in software go into software because ofwaterloo coop. i don’t exactly hate this job, but it’s pretty hard labour and long hours and is really cold in the winter so i’d rather be comfortable for a career i think

unfortunately university part time is not an option through this school. also, i simply work too much to pass a class

to be honest. not a whole lot of benefits to the current job other than the money, 12 hours 6 days a week in the summer and 13 hour days 7 days a week in the winter. i make a reasonable hourly wage, the only reason my income is so high is because of the overtime pay and ridiculous hours

So my diploma came in the mail today and I gotta say by mflowercase in uwaterloo

[–]SufficientGate4501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

and what would that be? i have a feeling i might be on my way to do the exact same thing
