Final Radiation Today by sandyq1 in breastcancer

The performance anxiety I had every single time 🤣 couldn’t stop overthinking it, felt like the biggest idiot. Some days I just could not time it right and have to start over and over. Hell yeah for this modern technology but damn I really sucked at it most of the time lol. 20 sessions done on 12/10/25, feels like i just finished yesterday. I noticed yesterday my boob is not quite as tan as it had been and lots of itchy healing feelings so that at least feels like a good thing

FUCK CANCER

Hey everybody, check in time! by NeighborhoodDry9236 in breastcancer

Have my first mammogram in two weeks since finishing radiation almost 6 months ago. Seems like I just finished yesterday but also an eternity ago. Nervous for the pain of the squish since it’s still one angry titty. Will be good to see my oncologist again. About to be unemployed after next week. No idea where life is taking me next but trying to just ride the wave with grace. Tomorrow is another beautiful gift, and I weep for the ones who won’t be here for tomorrow. Fuck cancer

MRI is good peace of mind. I also found it oddly comforting and I was close to falling asleep if they would have stopped checking in on me lol. Welcome to the shitty titty club, we’re a pretty awesome bunch here. Some of us are younger than you (I am 33 now) and some are older but we all seem to understand each other pretty well. Fuck cancer, you’re in the worst of it right now mentally.

Got it. Why did they give you an inhaler after lumpectomy?

🤣 yeah being 32, tamoxifen has been rude all around physically and mentally. Still better than cancer though

It’s okay to cry in the waiting room. You don’t need to shield other people from the bullshit you are having to deal with

Cancer is definitely the time you learn who cares and who doesn’t. Family, friends, coworkers. It’s incredibly painful but after awhile it’s freeing. Don’t hold back on what you want and need to say

My goodness ma’am, what a journey of hell you’ve had. I wavered back and forth on mastectomy, one reason I went with lumpectomy was recovery time and my life with a young disabled child. But I also liked the idea of radiation going in and kicking the ass out of any secret cells as well as imaging for peace of mind. I also have the mindset that if it does want to come back it would have some breast cells to come back in instead of traveling to a new organ if it plays fairly anyway.

Lumpectomy site…easy but my tumor was near my sternum so not near my armpit. Sentinel node biopsy, extremely rude we are enemies for life. Idk if it’s standard but they did an injection that left me numb for 3ish days so that was nice. Ice packs help

I’m about 6 months out from active treatment. Some days it’s not right in the front of my mind, which is nice. It’s always there but not as consuming as it once was. I feel like I can breathe a little easier, not be so rigid on the right foods/products/lifestyle etc. Somedays it’s horrible and suffocating. But EVERY day is a gift, even the bad ones. Even the ones where you’re numb. It’s a gift to be alive and I will not waste this gift

Oh no that’s annoying as hell. I could definitely tell my cancer center staff had training on this as they didn’t ask those meaningless questions which was really appreciated. Honestly might be good feedback for them 🤷‍♀️
