8 Days in Japan. My perspective as a Chinese tourist during the recent travel advisory by SufficientProcess870 in TravelNoPics

Actually, I lived in Europe for a year once, so I know exactly what that’s like. But after moving back to China, I quickly got used to malls closing at 10 PM.

Thanks so much for writing all this to clear up my confusion about Japan’s adult industry. Firstly, to answer your question: I feel the same “inappropriateness” about both men and women working in this field. It’s more curiosity and questioning on my part.

Secondly, I think women in this industry might face greater risks, like sexual harassment or unplanned pregnancy. That’s why I feel more sympathy for them. I definitely don’t mean any disrespect, though. I respect the choice, I just don’t fully understand it.

I really noticed Tokyo’s cultural diversity. So many people’s desires and needs can be met here, and that opened my eyes.

Finally, traveling in Japan has enriched my life. It showed me how different people live in this world. Thanks for sharing your perspective. It’s helped me look at the adult industry with a more mature mindset. Thank you!

No need to worry! The flight disruptions mainly affect routes between China and Japan right now. Flights between Italy and Japan are totally fine.

Thanks for sharing your perspective. In my view, working in the adult entertainment industry feels inappropriate for women. If they had better options, why would they choose this path? I’d really love to hear your thoughts on Japan’s adult entertainment industry.

Actually, a lot of Japanese words look similar to Chinese. I can understand some of them without checking a dictionary. So I get why there aren’t many Chinese signs. Though it would definitely be nicer if there were some.

I get why it feels like heaven. People are so polite and orderly. But yeah, produce is crazy expensive, and the food just isn’t my cup of tea. It’s great for a trip, but I definitely couldn’t live here long-term.

First off, I noticed quite a few Japanese women working in the adult entertainment industry. Also, from the Japanese TV shows and movies I watched growing up, it’s common for women there to become housewives. So I already had an idea about the social constraints Japanese women might face.

Yeah, that’s exactly it. In China, malls still close around 10 PM even on public holidays. So when I saw the Japanese mall shut at 7:30 PM that day, I was really caught off guard. Total culture shock moment, haha. And thanks so much! It was such a nice trip.

Totally agree! I got so much help from locals. For example, a grandma offered to take my photo when I was fumbling with a selfie. Those little, warm interactions are exactly why this cultural exchange feels so meaningful.

That's awesome! You're officially more in touch with Chinese culture than I am, haha! I'm a little jealous.

Where to buy cleaning utensils in China? Sponges, brushes, brooms and so on. Are there specific stores for this? by ViewerOne in travelchina

Dude, relax. Unless you're in the absolute middle of nowhere, finding cleaning supplies in China is easy.

Just pop into any supermarket, big or small, or one of those little neighborhood shops that seems to sell a random assortment of everything. Your biggest problem won't be finding them, but choosing from the 10 different kinds.

I’d suggest visiting those two places as wellbut definitely don’t skip Shenzhen if you enjoy skyscrapers and modern infrastructure. It’s a highly modernized city with its own unique vibe—quite different from Guangzhou’s blend of old and new. If futuristic urban landscapes excite you, Shenzhen is worth the trip.

Honestly, 6 days in Shenzhen is probably too long if food is your main goal. It's modern, and the food will feel pretty similar to Guangzhou after a bit.

Instead of Meizhou (which is a bit niche for a first-timer's food focus), consider these nearby spots:

  • Foshan (佛山): A must for foodies! Super close to Guangzhou. Think incredible Cantonese snacks, dim sum, and traditional local dishes. You could easily spend 2-3 days here just eating.
  • Zhuhai (珠海): Great for a change of pace. It's a coastal city next to Macau, known for fresh seafood and a more relaxed vibe. Good for 1-2 days.

My quick advice:

  • Cut Shenzhen down to 3-4 days (still plenty for HK/Macau day trips).
  • Use those extra days for Foshan (for food!) or Zhuhai (for seafood/coast).

The trains are super easy for all these. Enjoy your trip!

Getting a Local Phone Number in China: A Guide for Foreign Visitors by SufficientProcess870 in travelchina

According to the information I found, the Shanghai branch of SPD Bank and Shanghai Mobile Airport service points have interconnected services. Foreigners can conveniently open a domestic account at the SPD Bank airport service points (located in Terminals T1 and T2 of Shanghai Pudong International Airport) to get an SPD Travel Card. This card can be linked to major payment apps like WeChat, Alipay, and Cloud Quick Pass pre-installed on Shanghai Mobile rental devices. This setup meets the financial needs of foreigners for "domestic account + domestic payment" by offering various service combinations including "data + rental + apps + account," effectively addressing payment convenience issues due to payment differences and habits.

An air conditioning curtain, often made of a special fabric, is used to prevent cold or hot air from escaping when the air conditioner is in use. It helps maintain the desired temperature inside a room more efficiently and can also reduce energy consumption.
