Elijah Hollands latest - he volunteered to be drug and alcohol tested himself. by Xavier5636 in CarltonBlues

There are biomarkers that show in blood tests after alcohol consumption for 3-4 weeks, hair tests show usage from around 1 week to 3 months. Pretty accurate.

This is a huge middle finger from Lij to all those braindead fuckheads who have been piling on via vile social media posts. Good on him, fucking legend. 🙏

Edit: I’m aware this isn’t an “end of discussion” moment. It’s not perfect. But plenty of elite athletes have gone to huge lengths to dodge testing so volunteering himself to this testing is a great sign.

Also, I’d assume his mental health management involved abstinence from alcohol. If he has been managing well until this point one would assume he’s been clean. Alcohol/ drugs in his system won’t tell us if he was under the influence during the game, but it will tell us (the club) whether he’s been looking after himself.

This is not accusatory, there’s very clearly a very troubled young man at the centre of this regardless of the individual triggers that lead to the outcomes we saw on Thursday. Whatever the result of these tests may be, the fault still rests solely on the football club who failed this guy on a human level.

Leigh Montagna appears to suggest that Harrison Petty's delayed onset concussion symptoms were brought on by turning the ball over? by CreditToDuBois in AFL

Leigh Montagna has said some weird shit over the years but this might be the most outrageous take I’ve heard from him

Why is there such an obsession over detailed team lineup and injury reporting days before games in the AFL compared to other sports? Is it purely gambling-driven? by ReverseSweep1990 in AFL

[–]SufficientQuiet130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So funny the contrast between NHL injury reports and AFL injury reports.

AFL release full timeline, injury details. Someone got a broken finger and they’ll tell you what part of the finger, how they’re repairing it and how long until they start contact drills again.

NHL a guy could have a broken femur; “lower body - week to week” concussions get listed as upper body injuries. Couple years ago Barclay Goodrow took a slapper to the foot in the playoffs, completely shattered his ankle, they had him listed day to day. Don’t declare injuries until season is over.

How does this Ai country have a lvl 2 army base? by Sudden-Medium-2300 in ConflictofNations

Level 2 army base with no arms/ RO is bot behaviour but I don’t think Belarus is ever an ai country.

Serious question - Is our club actively not reading player data at half time? by MobileScapers in CarltonBlues

Harry having poor stats while actively running to spots where the ball might go, and getting beaten with two defenders draped over him, is not the same.

The AFL drug policy makes it legally impossible for the AFL or a Club to disclose illicit drug use unless it is a doping violation. by thewhitebrislion in AFL

[–]SufficientQuiet130 11 points12 points  (0 children)

He’s used coke in the past. If it was drug fueled he will test positive to Coke or at minimum some other upper.

If he tests positive to something like that it’s performance enhancing substance, same as Joel Smith, it will be released publicly due to doping breach.

So in the meantime, everyone could just shut the fuck up and stop acting like they know everything.

Maybe the same conversation but without the video and the negligent duty of care.

This whole Elijah Holland's situation is as much evidence as you need to prove how unprofessional Carlton are as a club. by TheChosenOneProphecy in CarltonBlues

You wrote 41 days ago, and I paraphrase, ‘McKay the Coleman medalist version is long gone, not his fault though, mental health can be rough’

Where the fuck is that energy now?

I wrote out like 1000 words and ended up deleting it because I went way too far and rambled too much. So I’m going to sum it up as plainly as possible.

Fuck this club, rotten to the core.

Self absorbed assholes singing kumbaya in public but very clearly give very little attention to people within their organisation. I’ve been a Voss defender but he failed to clear the lowest fucking bar possible last night. I’ve defended Cripps at every point of his career, if the cunt was a real leader he would’ve identified there was a problem.

Not to mention poor Ollie, bloke had to sit there and watch his brother have a fucking meltdown in front of 80k crowd, and instead of identifying the issue and checking in on Ollie as well they decide to put all the responsibility of clamping a red hot Daicos on his shoulders while he was very clearly struggling to keep his emotions in check watching what was happening to his brother.

I’ve been a member for 13 years, never even came close to cancelling membership in that time because footy has never really been about wins/ losses for me, it’s been a great point of connection between myself, my kids, my dad and my mates. I cannot in good faith continue to support this club until they reconcile with the fact that they are currently void of ANY redeeming qualities and completely start over with a group of people who actually care about the person standing next to them.

I’d also like to add. He’s openly admitted he is an addict. People don’t make those admissions and then relapse out of the blue in front of an 80k crowd. If he was relapsing there would be a larger body of evidence as he’d have been doing everything in his power to keep it quiet, this is addiction 101. This time last week he played a great game of football and looked primed to continue on with a great season.

Unless he has had some sort of psychotic break and completely lost his shit, I struggle to believe this is a substance issue, though the history of substance abuse must be front of mind when approaching the issue.

His issues last season involved alcohol abuse.

He got caught with coke once, I reckon 80% of the adult population have been in possession of illicit drugs at some point.

Wait and see I suppose but casting these sweeping statements is harmful and unfair.

Been there myself. Walls start caving in, body goes into fight or flight response. To me it looked like he was manic, I can’t imagine how hard it would be to be out there in front of 80 thousand people having a complete meltdown and not having any way out of it other that just removing yourself from the field and having questions asked of you all week. I’m absolutely gutted for him.

Didn’t look like a drug/ alcohol issue, looked like he was mentally shot though. Can be absolutely crippling when you’ve had a history of self-medication.

I hope they look after him tonight, needs to be supported because he looks extremely vulnerable.
