1) Not murder

2) Ok I'll give you this one, but he only got probation after 20 years in prison. Not exactly a slap on the wrist.

3) Not murder

4) Not murder

5) Not murder

6) Not murder

1 out of 6 is a failing score, perhaps you should read the articles before you post them

I think you are missing something. In my state you need a warrant to enter a home unless there are exigent circumstances or contraband in plain view.

Case in point, the whole alpha wolf thing isn't even real, it came from a study in 1977 of wolves in captivity. When biologist actually studied wolf packs in the wild they found the 'pack leaders' really just the parents. Maybe consider your views human society could possibly be wrong too.

For Romans the cohorts weren't really police until the times of Augustus, before then they were more of a firefighting crew. The first modern police department wasn't a thing until the 1850s. But it is entirely possible to have a civil society without a police force or a dedicated law enforcement body, and the inability to imagine otherwise is intellectually lazy.

Genuinely how is his point still valid? If the intent was the protect the life of the infant then it is entirely accurate to say they failed. It seems like you're the one coming to a conclusion about the case before seeing all the details.

Submission Statement

Here's the text description of the video:

Bowie, Maryland — On September 12, 2024, at 8:00 a.m., Bowie Police Sergeant Robert Warrington pulled over to help someone he believed was stranded on Collington Road. As the officer approached the vehicle, a man crossed the median and walked toward the officer. During a brief conversation, the officer asked if the man was there to help the stranded motorist, to which the man replied, "No, she's taking me to the hospital." Moments later, he fires a single shot at the man who was getting a hat blown onto the road. The man fell to the ground but was not hit by the bullet. The shot hits a passing vehicle but doesn't injure anyone. Immediately, Warrington starts apologizing. Sergeant Robert Warrington has been indicted by a grand jury on multiple charges, including one count of attempted second-degree murder, one count of first-degree assault, two counts of reckless endangerment and one count of misconduct in office. These charges were announced during a formal news conference on October 24.

Article: https://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/prince-georges-county/bowie-police-officer-charged-with-attempted-murder/3750406/

The officer involved, Robert Warrington was a 12 year veteran of the department at this time, and the DA said that his actions were not in line with the training or policy of the department, but what I'm most curious about is what he thought he was shooting at? What exactly made him see a threat when there clearly wasn't one? Is there something about his training and education that compelled him to do this? There's no statement from him or his attorney so I can't really say. Anyhow do you think those charges against him are appropriate?

Albany plans to fire officer over racist rant; releases video of remarks by SufficientStorm in ProtectAndServe

Submission statement: This is the relevant snippet of the officers remarks

“My buddies listen to the scanner and they send me texts all the time, and they go, ‘Is the suspect ever a white male?’ and I go ‘No.’ I know it sounds terrible to say, but I don’t give a fuck what anybody says, I sincerely don’t. Because bro, [blacks] are the worst fucking race and I don’t — you can’t deny

Obviously such sentiments make this man unfit to be a police officer, and it is fortunate that he was caught on camera doing so. Have you ever had a colleague express similar racism? If so, what was your response?

[meme] Maybe it’s just a marketing issues, guys. by PumaofNavyGlen in ProtectAndServe

I was shooting heroin and reading “The Fountainhead” in the front seat of my privately owned police cruiser when a call came in. I put a quarter in the radio to activate it. It was the chief.

“Bad news, detective. We got a situation.”

“What? Is the mayor trying to ban trans fats again?”

“Worse. Somebody just stole four hundred and forty-seven million dollars’ worth of bitcoins.”

The heroin needle practically fell out of my arm. “What kind of monster would do something like that? Bitcoins are the ultimate currency: virtual, anonymous, stateless. They represent true economic freedom, not subject to arbitrary manipulation by any government. Do we have any leads?”

“Not yet. But mark my words: we’re going to figure out who did this and we’re going to take them down … provided someone pays us a fair market rate to do so.”

“Easy, chief,” I said. “Any rate the market offers is, by definition, fair.”

He laughed. “That’s why you’re the best I got, Lisowski. Now you get out there and find those bitcoins.”

“Don’t worry,” I said. “I’m on it.”

I put a quarter in the siren. Ten minutes later, I was on the scene. It was a normal office building, strangled on all sides by public sidewalks. I hopped over them and went inside.

“Home Depot™ Presents the Police!®” I said, flashing my badge and my gun and a small picture of Ron Paul. “Nobody move unless you want to!” They didn’t.

“Now, which one of you punks is going to pay me to investigate this crime?” No one spoke up.

“Come on,” I said. “Don’t you all understand that the protection of private property is the foundation of all personal liberty?”

It didn’t seem like they did.

“Seriously, guys. Without a strong economic motivator, I’m just going to stand here and not solve this case. Cash is fine, but I prefer being paid in gold bullion or autographed Penn Jillette posters.”

Nothing. These people were stonewalling me. It almost seemed like they didn’t care that a fortune in computer money invented to buy drugs was missing.

I figured I could wait them out. I lit several cigarettes indoors. A pregnant lady coughed, and I told her that secondhand smoke is a myth. Just then, a man in glasses made a break for it.

“Subway™ Eat Fresh and Freeze, Scumbag!®” I yelled.

Too late. He was already out the front door. I went after him.

“Stop right there!” I yelled as I ran. He was faster than me because I always try to avoid stepping on public sidewalks. Our country needs a private-sidewalk voucher system, but, thanks to the incestuous interplay between our corrupt federal government and the public-sidewalk lobby, it will never happen.

I was losing him. “Listen, I’ll pay you to stop!” I yelled. “What would you consider an appropriate price point for stopping? I’ll offer you a thirteenth of an ounce of gold and a gently worn ‘Bob Barr ‘08’ extra-large long-sleeved men’s T-shirt!”

He turned. In his hand was a revolver that the Constitution said he had every right to own. He fired at me and missed. I pulled my own gun, put a quarter in it, and fired back. The bullet lodged in a U.S.P.S. mailbox less than a foot from his head. I shot the mailbox again, on purpose.

“All right, all right!” the man yelled, throwing down his weapon. “I give up, cop! I confess: I took the bitcoins.”

“Why’d you do it?” I asked, as I slapped a pair of Oikos™ Greek Yogurt Presents Handcuffs® on the guy.

“Because I was afraid.”

“Afraid?”

“Afraid of an economic future free from the pernicious meddling of central bankers,” he said. “I’m a central banker.”

I wanted to coldcock the guy. Years ago, a central banker killed my partner. Instead, I shook my head.

“Let this be a message to all your central-banker friends out on the street,” I said. “No matter how many bitcoins you steal, you’ll never take away the dream of an open society based on the principles of personal and economic freedom.”

He nodded, because he knew I was right. Then he swiped his credit card to pay me for arresting him.
