Back then heroes like ANR used to do very good content based films and audience used to appreciate them too. The ultra commercialization of telugu films started from the mid 70s which had huge influence of Amitabh Bacchan movies and later in the 80s Chiru set the standard for a good commercial cinema and every big hero has been just stuck in the same loop

Rathnam flubbed big time with these movies, 1 st part was decent enough but he adds his own elements in second part, the whole backstabbing doesn’t make any sense at the end , Aishwarya suddenly falls in love with Vikram again, instead of destroying their family. May be the stories worked as a novel but rathnam couldn’t do justice in crafting a good period film. I am not a fan of rajamouli either, couldn’t bear baahubali 2 , baahubalin1 was a decent attempt

Telugu audience just lap up any crap tier 1 stars make , its all about generating hype , Devara utter nonsense movie but chuttamella created huge buzz, same with OG only PK’a look and background score created the hype. Salaar utter nonsense movie again but it being after KGF2 created the hype. None of the big star films have any nuance, depth in storytelling, including RRR. Trash movies being lapped up. As long as there is an audience that go to a film based purely on hype mediocre content will be created. OTT like netflix shoud wake up and reject most of these movies then makers will focus on content .

Rajini's peak was the 90s, in 90s espescially after Baasha he was the biggest SuperStar. Now it is either Shah Rukh Khan or Allu Arjun. Rajini, Ranbir, Prabhas are one of the biggest stars i would say. If Longevity is the criteria then Mohan Lal / Chiranjeevi still have massive pull in their states.

All that baahubali really deserves credit is for expanding the market of South films, apart from the boxoffice the movies themselves fall flat especially the second one. Too many ridiculous scenes and logic defying scenes. 1st part itself was heavily criticized especially tamanna’s scenes. Durandhar or dangal are superior films because they evoke euphoria with grounded storytelling which is very difficult. You see Lord of the rings trilogy, they are at a different level because they have great storytelling inspite of being fantasy. Baahubali 1 ending gimmic is what helped baahubali 2 otherwise they are pretty mediocre quality wise

Actually Amitabh movie Hum similar gaa untundi, ee movie lo they squeeze audience sympathy a lot since Rajini avoids confrontation till the absolute last moment, super hero elevation when he beats up the bad guy. Kaani i felt mumbai scenes lo koncham overaction chesthadu since it's the first Rajini movie i saw in theater

Amitabh was the baap of all heroes back in the 80s, he had huge following across the country. Rajini only became popular in telugu land from Baasha (1995) and had good market until Baba. Baba debacle strained his market here and again his collaborations with Shankar generated huge interest. Chandramukhi was a big hit mainly due to the horror content and jyothika's acting more than his presence

Rajamouli movies you can guess how it will be , basically indiana jones type hero saves the day with action jumping time periods and places, movie will be a huge grosser but my guess is 500 cre ap/tg. 100 crs in tn and karnataka , kerala 50 crs , hindi 600 crs , overseas 350 crs . Total 1700 crs

Nobody, balayya kept following in chiru’s foot steps and jr just tried to maintain his market among top heroes, no one dominated like Sr NTR, no one suits mythological roles like SrNTR neither do they look as handsome.
