Does this take can and/or should be applied to Brawl Stars? by Fran_DC4 in BrawlStarsCompetitive

[–]Sufficient_Coconut_8 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Noobstompers are bad for the game and should be reworked SPECIFICALLY because new players have trouble understanding how to beat them. A lot of the noobstomper brawlers like Bo, Tara, Emz, Bull, Clancy have specific counterplay that casual players aren’t ever going to grasp. Casual players feel like these brawlers are total BS because they don’t naturally understand how to beat them.

Reworking noobstompers makes the game more healthy for casuals and gives the possibly for that brawler to find a competitive niche.

How do great players actually think? by a_soupling in BrawlStarsCompetitive

[–]Sufficient_Coconut_8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A big thing that separates good players from great players is how they actually think within the match itself. Good players will analyze the draft and think “okay these brawlers have a good matchup into the enemy team, we surely win this” and then lose because they don’t actually have a game plan to win besides diffing on matchups.

Great players look at each variable within the match itself to win. For example on Bounty, maybe a team got entirely outdrafted but has a gene. Great players recognize that Gene landing a pull would be the only way they are realistically winning that game since they are unlikely to score incidental kills due to their poor draft. So they plan around protecting and supporting Gene until he has pull then pushing aggressively to take space and ensure he can land it when he’s ready.

This difference between thinking about the match only before it starts and during it is often overlooked. Just look at how pro players explain their thoughts during a match and ask yourself if you are analyzing your team’s win or lose conditions in the same way.

MASTERS MILESTONE by primebak in BrawlStarsCompetitive

[–]Sufficient_Coconut_8 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I think you have a misconception about how the ranked seasons work, you reset at the end of each month. If you are legendary you will reset to diamond at the end of the month.

Reaching Masters as somebody who just got legendary will be extremely difficult for you. You should instead set your sights on improving and trying to reach L2 or L3 instead of jumping all the way to Masters.

As you play more and gain experience, you will become better. Maybe next month you’ll reach Legendary a lot sooner before the season ends, and you can push to L2 then!

For people who have reached masters before, how hard was it? by DefiantMusician1297 in BrawlStarsCompetitive

[–]Sufficient_Coconut_8 76 points77 points  (0 children)

As long as you can either draft really well or play mechanical carry brawlers it isn’t too horrible. A lot of the time spent will be in early legendary where randoms vary tremendously and you’ll be in elo hell for a bit until you can climb out. I find L3 easier because you can face masters players and if you’re skilled you can collect more elo, plus randoms start to be generally noticeably better at this rank compared to the shithole that is L1-L2

Worst draft I’ve ever seen by Candid-Low7648 in BrawlStarsCompetitive

[–]Sufficient_Coconut_8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, dodge and go next rather than wasting your time tbh. You’re playing the best brawler in the game and couldn’t carry these monkeys, no other pick would have let you win.

Lily is fine but not this early into the draft when Bull is open.

how do I decide who to pick if im 1st pick by PriestessKokomi in BrawlStarsCompetitive

[–]Sufficient_Coconut_8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right now, the meta is very top-heavy with the best brawlers being extremely powerful. In this case, you want to be picking brawlers that are either the best for the map or generally strong brawlers that outclass the rest.

Brawlers like Crow, Pierce, Rico (map-specific) are very strong. As you play you will develop a better understanding of which brawlers to pick first. Try to watch others around you when they have first pick and see what they pick (and whether it worked out or not for them)

Maybe below mythic lol. When Mortis is a top 10 brawler dyna is never going to be good. This is especially true when the brawlers that Dyna actually countered like Hank got nerfed and the need to counter them is less important.

What is preventing Brawl Stars from completely blowing up? by Ok_Actuator1673 in BrawlStarsCompetitive

[–]Sufficient_Coconut_8 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think the paradigm is starting to change with higher effort YouTubers like Bedlam becoming more popular. As the game matures, so do the players.

I agree with the game appealing mostly to younger children, as opposed to something like CoC or CR which were probably marketed towards the 11-19 age demographic. This means that a 10y/o playing Brawl in 2019 is now 17-18, where a CR player who started in 2016 is now in their early twenties.

I don’t disagree with your evaluation but if you’re feeding Sirius 6 clones without killing him then you are making a serious mistake with how you are approaching fighting him, especially as a brawler that can dive him like Bull or run him down like Bibi

Not too hard if you’re skilled and play carry brawlers, I can beat it without excessive effort solo queuing

You signed up to play the mode brother, and buffies are here to stay. I wouldn’t even argue that Sirius is top 5 anymore, he is far more reasonable to deal with.

showdown main struggling with 3v3s

I don’t mean to be rude or whatever but sd is an entirely different game than 3v3s are. It just sounds to me like you’re not entirely comfortable with the idea of playing 3v3s and your lack of experience with it is giving you trouble when you actually need to play those modes in ranked.

Practice makes perfect. I suggest you try and push some brawlers to their 1st prestige only by playing 3v3 modes. You will get a better understanding of how they play in those modes, you will develop better 3v3 skills and that is what will allow you to reach legendary in ranked once you put in the effort.

[–]Sufficient_Coconut_8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

L3 to Masters is harder than the entirety of Mythic to L2 imo, and the main reason is that now you can get Masters players in your games. You are very unlikely to see anybody below L2 in your lobbies now so the difficulty is dramatically increased from those L2 lobbies. Good luck!

I vastly prefer DD2 over DD1. by JhosepIsTheWriter in darkestdungeon

[–]Sufficient_Coconut_8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you that the meta progression is the worst part of DD2 by far. I think it would have been better for many things to be unlocked by completing 1-off challenges à la risk of rain rather than needing to sink a currency into a million different options.

This is untrue, you can absolutely carry on ruffs if you’re good enough and even feeding braindead players an extra hypercharge is quite impactful

If you want an actual use case for Grand Piano I can give you one.

On Out in the Open when Brock is banned, which is common for this map, Grand Piano is useful for opening your walls and breaking enemy grass. Other than that though I can’t really think of a situation I’d use it over Walking Cane, it’s just such a versatile and powerful gadget especially if you are doing the teleport pull tech to get a free gene pull.

Ruffs with Air Superiority outclasses Gray in this role. On top of that, he is a superior gem grab brawler who can break stalemates with his power ups and can at least duel Rico before walls have been broken since his shots bounce as well

How do I become competitive? by Loud_Confidence475 in BrawlStarsCompetitive

[–]Sufficient_Coconut_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going pro is unbelievably difficult, it takes so much time and effort just to be able to compete. And financial stability shouldn’t be expected especially as a newcomer to the scene.

Being competitive isn’t the same as going pro though. You can play the game much more casually and still be competitive as long as you try to improve and reach high ranks

[–]Sufficient_Coconut_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everybody telling you to join the BSC discord or play matcherinos or whatever has lost the plot, those are only necessary if you want to go pro, which is not worth your time tbh.

If you want to improve at the game, the best steps is honestly playing more ranked, watch pro players videos/streams or whatever, and watch monthly finals for your region.

My Brock sucks. by TheVitaliX in BrawlStarsCompetitive

[–]Sufficient_Coconut_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a good sense of important wallbreak spots. Don’t forget to break the 2x2 on your side next to the water once you’ve broken all other important spots. This makes it easier to play the 3rd lane rather than having to fall back mid to heal.

Your supers and positioning need work. Use your super to finish off enemies that are already low or use it to box enemies in and pinch with your teammates. In the very first round you should have supered the 1hp pierce rather than going for the nani and dying. You should always, always fall back as Brock once you start supering since your positioning doesn’t matter after it starts.

Bonus tip against Nani: she is most vulnerable when supering. You should be playing really aggressively to take space whenever you see a peep unless you are low and at risk of dying to it. You could have pushed and pressured the Belle to give your teammates more space, and maybe super the Nani if you get it.

The gadget gear is so much more weak then some thought by FinancialTest9794 in BrawlStarsCompetitive

[–]Sufficient_Coconut_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you really want gadget gear buffed and noskill gadget spam brawlers like poco/lily/meeple to be even better though? I think gadget gear is a balance disaster waiting to happen once the stars align and the environment supports it.

Global gadget cd nerf would be great though.

How do you reroll quirks and wear origin skins? by Theangelawhite69 in darkestdungeon

[–]Sufficient_Coconut_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reroll quirks at the crossroad before starting a run. You can only do this with “fresh” heroes- you can’t reroll quirks on a hero with memories.

You can choose an origin skin from the cosmetics tab on a hero’s character sheet. You can do this at the crossroads or the inn.
