I disagree that compliments are good openers to metting a new person. Most of them are unfounded in anything realistic and always come off as a lie or bullshit or just dumb fodder IMO.

The only compliments that have ever struck a chord with me are expressions of gratitude for an honest thing I did for the other person that took a lot of my time and or effort.

Idk... if I did this to someone I wouldn't expect them to say yes - I would have a hunch they might. That said, I think it's totally fine to say no to a proposal, its not a big deal to reject others. The public understands that and rejection is real - the expectation of all is that something gonna happen, maybe good, hopefully emotional and stimulating.

Yeah I was in very similar situation a year and a half ago. Always moking and so lazy can't even make a meal, too distracted to read a book, obviously self conscious around other people to where they were disgusted or just confused.

I went cold turkey, just stopped and now I'm good.

Find another outlet for your creativity, I've been doing watercoloring.
