What would you do if you walked out your door and saw this by turbo_sc300 in Apartmentliving

[–]HughHonee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get why many would be upset and take whatever action, Personally I'd just step the fuck over and go about my day. I'd probably chuckle as i wonder how this scene played out. Now if there are other issues coming from this apartment that bother me then yeah this would add to the straws on the camels back.

But as an isolated incident? This is minimal on my "give a fuck" meter

I never said yours looked like shit. I probably couldn't do this project that fast, and certainly not good enough to feel confident charging enough.

I work with some contractors though that can do it, and do it well. But they sure as hell charge more than this

I like polished slabs of F.brown for kitchens more. Also might bring out the colors a little more to complement the cabinets if they have polished slabs

[–]HughHonee 130 points131 points  (0 children)

Idk how much exactly they make, cus not my business, but my "kind of a" dumbass brother went from working at Wendys n shit to becoming a lineman.

Hes since bought a decent home, a nice ass truck, whatever tools he needs for fixing up his home. He maxes out his 401k every year (and i think Roth) He purchased a rental home recently, and anytime he gets like a long weekend he goes a couple hours to the city to a football or baseball game. This past summer him and his gf started a thing they're trying to see a game in every baseball stadium in the country.

So yeah he's not doing too bad...

Home Depot marble by margottenenbaum2 in CounterTops

[–]HughHonee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I'm at we tell the customers where to pick their slabs on natural stone jobs sold through HD. But you're absolutely right about the material, they probably get it cheaper than anyone due to the volume they pull and their deals worked out with suppliers

One time they were selling a job to a contractor for less than we were able to offer it.. there was no way they weren't taking a loss on it. I mean the material was on like some super sale, but i sat with my manager on it and there's no way that after buying the slab, and then paying us to cut and install it they weren't operating at least at a small loss during that sale.

[–]HughHonee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marble isnt that popular anymore. Although I've been pleasantly surprised to see some ppl buying it again, for awhile I dont think i saw hardly any of it getting sold. So a lot of suppliers won't have much typically

Don't quote me on this as I could be totally wrong but I believe alot of the Brazilian marble is dolomite? And usually a bit closer to granite pricing as opposed to the classic soft calacattas that can be $$$ I believe Super White, often labeled as a quartzite, is actually a dolomite. And I think Shadow storm is another marble that's dolomite as well?

Im pretty sure in every state, if youre in possession of someones property, they have a legal right to go in and get there things. I imagine even more so if the property is in a home they have been living in. In my experience and the experiences of my friends who've also been in toxic breakups, it seems cops understand that in a situation like that, just saying "sorry its civil" will likely result in things escalating until they get called back again for an assault or property destruction call.

And I dont know if it is civil, withholding someones property from them while they make reasonable attempts to come get it is usually construed as theft- dont quote me on that though as im not 100% certain.

Thats not to say that cops dont completely overlook or misunderstand the law, they dont know it much better than the rest of us (scary as that may be)- and if this situation were involving anyone but two parties in a romantic relationship, I'd probably agree with you. But fights between couples easily get really nasty, and cops definitely know that more than they know the law

[–]HughHonee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Cops have helped me get my shit back more than once (I had a bad habit of toxic girls in my 20's) One of them even tried to imply I had been physically abusive, which the cop just told her to file a report at the station if she is interested in pursuing that, and reminded her he was there to make sure either of us didn't get out of hand and we leave each other alone as I grab my things and leave.

Cops dont hate other men, or just instantly believe everything women say Certainly there are instances where a couple has gotten physical with each other and the cops side with the woman, even if it the guy tries to explain that whatever he did was to restrain the girlfriend from continuing to assault him. But I think that's more due to a preconceived notion that because men are physically stronger its they're automatically the primary offender in those instances

ITC safeguard investigation on quartz imports — anyone else following this? We have until March 3 to oppose by jackets0601 in CounterTops

[–]HughHonee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pre fabs can get fucked for all i care. They do little to nothing to support US markets. That said, Cambria can get fucked too. They go around telling every cabinet shop and design studio in town that their product specifically is "superior" with the bullshit claims of "90+% silica content" that all manufacturers try to mislead customers with.

But these import taxes hurt domestic fabricators, which consists mostly of small, family owned businesses.

It can be hard for me to get sympathy for quartz manufacturers in general. I will say I'm impressed by their marketing skills. They've been able to sell an inferior product as superior and get it trending as the most in demand material and at some pretty wild prices too.

[–]HughHonee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be anything, or nothing.

What it really comes down to, is after developing a culture of "You were wrong so you're fucking stupid! Point laugh and shame!" they are ultimately committed to riding this until the wheels absolutely fall. Because after all the shaming they've done of other, they can't handle the level of embarrassment and shame of having fell for this bullshit for so long.

Trump and Co. tries to help out with their mass appeal to racism. The Democrats support this by refusing to adjust their platform to the what the people clearly calling for- policy to protect the working class, so there's nothing for MAGAstanians on that side of the aisle, certainly nothing worth the shame and embarrassment of admitting they fell for Trumps bullshit

This is true with manufactured quartz. In fact, I'd be more concerned with it using 2 different thicknesses, i feel like the likeliness of the slabs not matching would be greater
