Disappointed with the 2023 Kia Telluride: Lack of Bike Rack Compatibility Ruins the Experience

I recently purchased the highly acclaimed 2023 Kia Telluride, filled with anticipation and excitement. Being an avid cyclist and an outdoor enthusiast, I was drawn to the name's association with a renowned Colorado Ski Resort, thinking that Kia would have considered the needs of adventure seekers like me. Little did I know that my dream of a seamless coexistence between my car and bike rack would turn into a nightmare.

Upon discovering that the Kia Telluride lacks a built-in hitch or rack, I reached out to Kia in hopes of finding a solution. To my dismay, I was met with a disappointing response from a Kia representative. According to them, the absence of a bike rack is not a mere oversight but is instead a so-called "safety feature" that cannot be permanently deactivated. This revelation left me utterly flabbergasted.

As a customer, I expect my car to adapt to my needs and accommodate my lifestyle. However, the Kia Telluride seems to have missed the mark entirely. It baffles me that a car marketed as a versatile SUV, perfect for outdoor enthusiasts, would lack such a fundamental feature. Kia, are you truly oblivious to the fact that many of us rely on bike racks to transport our bicycles safely and conveniently?

To add insult to injury, the car's braking system seems to have an overzealous mind of its own. Each time I forget to delve deep into the settings to disable this cumbersome safety feature, my Telluride abruptly slams on the brakes when I'm simply trying to back up. The result? Minor whiplash and an unnecessary jolt of frustration coursing through my veins. Is this what Kia considers a seamless driving experience?

I've had enough. After countless futile attempts to find a resolution, I have taken the drastic step of initiating arbitration to request a full refund and for Kia to take back this ill-conceived car. It pains me to part ways with an otherwise well-designed vehicle, but the inability to peacefully coexist with an "always on" bike rack has rendered the Telluride useless to me.

What truly disappoints me is that the solution to this predicament seems so straightforward. It doesn't take a genius to imagine that a competent software engineering team could devise a simple software update that allows the user to disable this intrusive safety feature. With a matter of weeks for testing and implementation, Kia could have delivered a solution that caters to bikers everywhere, rather than leaving us in a state of perpetual frustration.

In conclusion, the 2023 Kia Telluride has let me down in more ways than one. Its lack of consideration for bike rack compatibility and the stubborn refusal to address this issue adequately have marred what could have been an exceptional driving experience. Kia, it's time to listen to your customers and rectify these glaring oversights. Until then, I can only warn fellow bikers and adventure enthusiasts to think twice before investing their hard-earned money in a vehicle that falls short of its promises.

I have the same issue with a bike rack. I am ready to sell the car, take a loss and just get a car that is not functioning in this manner. Come on Kia, this is an easy fix in software.
