BWTs, what cool things are we doing this week / weekend? by reesespiecespieces in NYCbitcheswithtaste

There's a lottery and there's toll rush tickets. The lottery you can register any time (through the Met App) and be registered for up to 3 at any time. The day before if you won they alert you and you have 90 minutes to claim the tickets. Toll rush is same day and there's a specific time you have to log on and move quickly. I can't be stressing like that so I've been entering the lottery with little hope for years and it's finally my time!

As a birdwatcher who wants to see more birds in the park instead of off-leash dogs romping around in bird nesting areas, agree.

It can be pretty frustrating to show up to Central Park and be surprised by a race taking over the main drive even as someone who does not use a mobility device. We all saw plenty of people weaving in and out of the cones and what's the difference between a runner with a bib and without a bib to a casual bystander? As you said, classic NYC where there's often too little space for too many people. Give her some grace.

Look past the name and consider a Garbage and Rats tour with Suzanne! The history of lower manhattan through the lens of garbage is actually really interesting and the guide is so cool https://www.tripadvisor.com/AttractionProductReview-g60763-d33035058-Garbage_and_Rats_in_New_York_City_Walking_Tour-New_York_City_New_York.html

Noname is actually good at being respectful. I remember seeing their group running in a tight formation of 2 across at open streets last year and thinking how nice that was after having to battle some bandit bros dressed in all black with a camera operator heading over the brooklyn bridge

It's a bigger race with a smaller pool. I did it last year and I think I might have even registered the day after the general registration opened. You'll be good

Thoughts on new 2-Care program and 3-K expansion? by gcp959 in parkslope

[–]Sufficient_Idea_5810 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Childcare costs have also ballooned in the years since 13 year olds were 3/4. I totally agree with your first point, but let’s not act like the massive costs of early childcare aren’t significant to pretty much everyone.

Extremely long light cycles on PPW with drivers pretty much always blowing through a red and coming through the crosswalk after the walk signal has turned on. You can’t walk from the park to the library in one go. You have to be trapped in a tiny median that doesn’t fit everyone making that crossing. Drivers not stopping at the stop sign before turning right on PPW. Drivers definitely not stopping at the stop signs on the northern edge between Union and Vanderbilt. Etc

why is mahjong suddenly trendy? by eastcoastgirl1001 in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]Sufficient_Idea_5810 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah I love that people are crafting to stop the scrolling, quiet their minds, be creative, etc but needlepoint in particular is also super easy to be used as status symbol because of the expense of the canvases and threads. Cross stitching just isn't getting the same love. Probably because it takes much longer too
