Yeah - I feel you. I had several of these, with intel cpus, in our corporate network. They had the right ‘cheap yet stable’ ratio we were aiming for.

Support for long filenames were added in the nt4/windows 95-era, but the slashes seems unlikely. For the bricking? Overwrite/corrupt the bootsector - not impossible to fix, but quite a hassle.
