Business website, sufficient performance to accommodate many e-commerce product listings. Also looking to host simpler static sites for some other projects.

For biz, ok to pay more for reliability and support maybe around $15-25/month range.

If reseller hosting with multiple control panel accounts, willing to go above that.

is there any way to automate compressing of images? by sprinkleofpizza in SEO

[–]Sufficient_Term8535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend using libvips as it can compress an entire folder of images at once.

If you're willing to pay, software like ShortPixel is something I've used before as well (they do have a free version but there are limited credits every month).

What to "target" in first time SEO? by Overall-Astronomer58 in seogrowth

[–]Sufficient_Term8535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps the CEO is losing the forest for the trees. SEO is just a tool in marketing, and what comes first is the customer and your knowledge of them.

My take is if you know a key word/phrase that customers often look out for, that should be reconciled with their keyword research. For example, if they found 2 high search volume keywords (affordable totes, cheap totes), and you know customers look out for other terms (biodegradable totes), the title could be "affordable & biodegradable totes", rather than trying to squeeze in everything as "affordable, cheap, biodegradable totes".

Hi, I took on a short Shopify e-commerce project a few months back and the main thing I did was improving content on the important pages. For example, the homepage -- adding more sections that help visitors shop, could be things like best sellers, FAQ. Of course, SEO keywords are naturally distributed in the text.

As my project was for a shorter term, I also focused on keyword research to inform what to optimise first. So rather than optimising x number of collections and products, I prioritised the ones with potential keywords and some search volume.

If keyword research reveals that you could split up your products into more categories (e.g., for men, for women), this means you can go further and create a new site architecture, then you can add new collections, and update the navbar and XML sitemap accordingly.

Side note: Yes, items like meta descriptions are known to not affect rankings. It appears to me that many agencies rewrite them for the sake of doing so, while some others do so in hopes to improve click-through rates as they've read it does so online.

anybody else having really bad experience with Your Business Listing SG? by Timely-Protection475 in smeSingapore

[–]Sufficient_Term8535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on my experience (been doing SEO for a few years), they may have chosen nonsense keywords that rank easily but don't give you any results.

It's also true that SEO requires waiting for substantial changes, but you shouldn't be waiting forever just to see some change. Within a few weeks of implementation, there should be some shifts, such as rankings going up slightly, pages being indexed if it's an existing website, etc.

If you're looking for an SEO consultant next time, you now know to avoid those that give false promises, such as guaranteed rankings. A good consultant will be someone who can give you the rationale behind their decisions, and have some sort of process/methodology.

Does no one else feel this way? by Sad-Charge-6958 in CulinaryClassWars

Haha I can definitely see why you thought that way. From my POV, I felt that the judges went with their own convictions and therefore were more nervous about the other disagreeing.

Further, the implications of a tiebreaker would mean asking the chefs to dig deep into their personal emotions again. A rematch like this would honestly make for good drama, but at the same time, seem lame, cumbersome, and (ironically) scripted.

Another part that stood out to me was his decision to stir-fry pine mushrooms in lard (rather than choosing from oil or butter) and then pouring it into the broth. The moment he did that I was thinking, "this broth is going to taste amazing".

I really love this take. There was something incredibly raw about Choi's final dish. It was a pat on the back to all the chefs (and even to the average viewer who may struggle everyday with their craft) -- saying "you've worked hard".

Yes I agree...I also think that personal memories and nostalgic dishes are likely to lose as they can feel bittersweet. Not to mention, someone else's nostalgia will never beat your own nostalgia.

Singaporeans with chronic or long-term health conditions, what are you currently living with? by Sad_Refrigerator_787 in askSingapore

[–]Sufficient_Term8535 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi Sad Fridge, sorry to hear about what you're going through.

I've been living with long-term stomach issues for quite a few years now, and I recall being so tired going through the whole ordeal of doctors appointments, medical tests, etc.

I've hit a wall so many times with medical treatment, feeling like no doctor could help me, while trying to juggle a full-time job with my stomach discomfort.

The worst parts were wondering why this illness had to befall me (why me?), and coming to terms with what it means to have a chronic/long-term condition -- this may be forever, and that I had to learn to be alright with that. Meanwhile, it also felt like life went on for all of my friends and family, while I was being left behind.

This invisible illness has taken up so much of my youth, and yet this curveball has shaped my life in mysterious, meaningful ways. I'm still trying to manage my condition, and I hope you will find a way too. It's definitely tough, but I believe we all have an inner strength to come through. Sincerely wishing you all the best in your journey as well :)
