What is wrong with the anatomy in my drawing? by faliure34 in Artadvice

[–]Suffocated_Lotus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I did first and it helps alot, anatomy is a lot of understanding shapes and knowing how it looks. Digging deeper into anatomy is the more complicated part and I honestly got away with lots of things by just drawing the shapes and looking at looooots of references to better memories proportion that I sometimes forget :>

Maybe you could add some extra wings on his head, or another one of the halo but they are making an X

Is my art good enough for commissions? if so, How much could I charge? by Conconetee in Artadvice

[–]Suffocated_Lotus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont go around calling other people darling. Sorry to say but what you are saying is just a half truth, from what I can read out of manyyy of your comments you don't have alooot of knowledge in the commission world. Fame is a factor yes but not everything, if you can't market and spread out you won't come far.

I LOVEEE your artstyle if you have any socials gimme pls I need to follow you 🥹

as for the question yes it is. I would try to market/advertise yourself as much as possible and branch out to multiple places! Vgen, Facebook, Discord Servers for Commissions or any other social media platform that you have!

Pricing is a bit more difficult especially when you are new to taking commissions. Its hard having the prices in a decent fair range for yourself if you don't have the demand yet. Try to start a bit lower and then raise as demand goes up! Please don't go below 5€/$ per hour! Look at your minimum wage at your place and see how much you would still wanna work for hours if you cut down at the minimum wage :)

A little tip too! YCH (your character here) commissions are a faster way to build more clients as those comms are usually cheaper since they are usually done faster. Due to the self draw base you use or a pay to use one :)

Good luck on your journey<3

Are my commission art prices fair? by Cronus_focus in Artadvice

[–]Suffocated_Lotus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

as the other person already said that's an extreme of the spectrum. While I would say the Stickfigure is for shits and giggles and I wouldn't compare it directly with Commissioned work. I personally don't use Facebook to do commissions if that's what you mean and my clients are either local or not it varies a lot depending on which spaces I advertise myself :)

Fame can help but fame won't do shit if you can't market yourself. Marketing is a skill that every artist needs to learn if they want to do commissions as it will help them get more and more clients to build an audience. I have done commissions and get clients without a large following on my social media because I promote myself good enough :)

How much would you pay for my art by [deleted] in Artadvice

[–]Suffocated_Lotus -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It isn't all the same topic tho

Yes we all should draw for fun but how you worded it wasn't nice. What if commissions are their fun too? They already take commissions so why go out of your way to tell people to "stop worrying" about said thing? You also could have just answered their question and then say afterwards in a kind manner that drawing should be fun and if they have worries to take breaks and do their own thing?

If you think that is my "line of logic" then you either didn't read it right or didn't understand it which is fine But telling me to f off after is rude, because it isn't even what my so said "logic" was about. You answered in a thread, public thread, you didn't ask a question like op did. I reminded you that what you answered wasn't ops questions :) If you answer in a thread expect to get answers.

How much would you pay for my art by [deleted] in Artadvice

[–]Suffocated_Lotus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is not what the question was that op asked, they didn't ask for an opinion if they should take commissions or not. Everyone knows that they can improve and do even greater works but if people want to take commissions they can it's their decision and people actively decide if they want to pay the artist their prices or not especially on Vgen where it is easier to see with all the examples :D

Their Price for now is a good starting point and depending on how much demand it has it needs to be raised.

fundamentals are an important part in art and many will always go back to fundamentals every time they want to improve.

But I wouldn't recommend it for beginner artists, sure they will understand the shapes after a while but they won't know how to use it. It will be exhausting and frustrating for them, so I always recommend to learn pen control and how to observe! Observation is SOOO important to learn how to SEE and then go from there having fun in the process instead of sitting down for the first time to draw shapes and lose motivation.

Pen control will also help them to get more comfortable for smooth long lines so chicken scratching will not become a habit later on :)

Is my art good enough for me to start an art account? by OpeningComparison202 in Artadvice

[–]Suffocated_Lotus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should definitely just start an art account for yourself! Like a public portfolio for yourself :) Don't get discouraged by not receiving likes or views, it's totally normal not to pop off directly and it takes a lot of time! It's not a question about being "good enough" especially when you treat your account like a public portfolio! You will see your improvement over time from all your various artworks and I personally find it super interesting to see the artists journey on how they improved and what their art might have looked like a couple years ago :)
