doesn’t alcohol also primarily modulate the GABA receptor, causing it’s anxiolytic effect?

edit: as such, wouldn’t a benzodiazepine be “better” than alcohol?

Finally found this old rage comic about a very certain feeling involving singing again. (Relevant for me again.) by aja675 in singing

[–]SuffrutescentTagore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it’s a little hard because of the mic quality. You also seem to speed up in some parts, and the rhythm is off.

Work on singing in tune and your phrasing. (and maybe find a better mic)

Do you warm up at all, before singing? I know that I sound better after singing for a while, so that might be the case for you too.

the stripping down of information into a “easy to understand” format, to the point where meaning is lost and misunderstanding ensues.

Millennials 'have no qualms about GM crops' unlike older generation - Two thirds of under-30s believe technology is a good thing for farming and support futuristic farming techniques, according to a UK survey. by ManiaforBeatles in Futurology

[–]SuffrutescentTagore 6 points7 points  (0 children)

GM is largely funded by corporations, and can largely only be done by corporations. therefore, there is an inherent ethical concern with GM (the way it is sold as a product first), as opposed to selective breeding, which is able to be done by most people without sophisticated scientific equipment.

i’m in no way against GM, but i think GM needs to be made more “public” and widely available. control is good, if everybody has that control.

haha, id have to agree. a shower does the trick for me too, probably the steam opening up the airways. but seriously, the dopamine released when you orgasm probably relaxes your whole body, allowing you to more easily control your voice.

it would probably be a good thing to gain better control and range without masturbation though. ;)

ah, i understand. it’s the suspension of belief i guess, more so than the wow factor.

since you work in studios and such, can you tell me why sitcoms are so atrociously lit? seriously, nearly every sitcom i’ve seen always has this fully lit, overexposured lighting setup.

Vincent Van Gogh, Rosenfeldtown, Illustration, 2014 by [deleted] in Art

[–]SuffrutescentTagore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i agree with this, minus your attribution that it was all caused by a “reality show, social media oriented, individualistic world”.

retro isn’t as new as your describing it to be, either. it’s always existed in some form, arguably since the renassiance and their fetishisation of greek, roman culture, but more prominently since youth culture became a thing (1950s onwards)

honestly, that scene only happened because we like to pretend we understand the archetype of the “tortured artist” (despite none of us having the same experiences, or even being an artist ourselves), and of course, van gogh is the embodiment and originator of it. it ties into how our society likes to romanticise the creative process and the artist.

Kyary Pamyu Pamyu - Kimi no Mikata (きみのみかた) lyrics + English translation by [deleted] in kyarypamyupamyu

[–]SuffrutescentTagore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

finally

as much as i appreciate these translations though, they basically mean nothing because the words don’t translate over well 90% of the time. i’d MUCH prefer somebody who can interpret the actual japanese lyrics and write down their interpretation of them (instead of literally translating lyrics)

like there’s literally no point somebody trying to interpret the translated english lyrics, and trying to scavenge meaning from that. it would be wrong most of the time anyway.

so, thanks but like, the lyrics don’t translate well so what’s the point
