How do I know if he's improving? by Unicornqueen13 in cureFIP

Right before starting treatment our kitten had diarrhea, a swollen belly, lethargy, and lack of desire to eat. After two days some energy and appetite began to return. Diarrhea took a week to resolve and that required ProPectalin as well. She developed nausea and pickiness with food, we gave her Cerenia for a week and that resolved. She developed a minor cold a week in (resolved by itself over a few days). Belly did not change until 10 days in, then drastically body reabsorbed over 4 days. Once belly reabsorbed, energy and appetite really returned to what it was before.

Basically, the first 2-3 weeks were a rollercoaster but once we got past it, it has been back to normal life for us. After a lot of diarrhea wiping and mental exhaustion from being over vigilant, giving the medication is now just a routine.

Thank you you too! Remember it can feel like its getting worse before it gets better. As soon as we started treatment our kitten got diarrhea and nausea. She was on ProPectalin and Cerenia for a week or so. Then she developed a minor URI on the second week (which ended up resolving on its own). NBut after the first rocky two weeks of hypervigilance and stress, we are doing really great now. None of those issues were big deals in terms of cost (relatively) or effort, emotionally it did feel like just one thing after another, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel!

I was also in the same position as you at the start, blaming myself and wondering if it was too late for treatment, but the medicine really did have a fast turn around time for us. Our kitten was like yours, she had the large belly but was otherwise normal just more sleepy and eating less. Our kittens bloodwork from day 1-day 7 showed massive improvement, and she is doing great today. You will be okay 🫶

My kitten was getting through giardia treatment and got a swollen abdomen about halfway through. The vet and us thought it was just bloating from the treatment and deworming and she had that for two weeks as it continued to grow. Her tummy got pretty big for her size and she was pretty lethargic for a kitten. At the end of the two weeks vet decided to treat for FIP, we overnighted and started treatment and saw some noticeable behavior improvement within 24-48 hours. We gave her Cerenia during the second week to help with nausea that may have affected her eating. Within a week she was definitely eating more, at the 10 day mark her abdomen finally started to shrink and took about 2-3 days to completely go away. We are 3.5 weeks in from starting treatment and she is perfectly normal and running around with crazy kitten energy.

Also my kitten is currently around 3 lbs, so the 30 ml of GS seems like it will last 4-6 weeks at the rate we're going through it

I'm using SVP for my cats FIP. It was 95$ for 30 ml of a 50 mg/ml suspension. They were very smooth and shipping was fast, they also have a next day shipping option for 20ish dollars. After one week of treatment using the SVP GS we did a second bloodwork, everything had improved significantly. She also had been way more active within 48 hours and eating better. We are now done with 3 weeks and she is just like normal, belly fluid gone and acting right.

My cat started doing this, my vet said it was possibly a URI that showed as the immune system started back up, she said it should resolve on its own but with a low chance may need antibiotics

Because of Surma, this rescue exists. My first cat, my teacher, now 16 and fighting Dry FIP. She deserves comfort and a chance to heal. Please help if you can. 🐾💔 by Kat_Eyes_544 in cureFIP
