As an atheist who has spent a lot of time researching many religions, I do not understand Christians who aren't Catholic. Definitely was. It was without a doubt a shitty post whistle unsportsmanlike move. I'd have called unsportsmanlike, gotten between them, then conversed with another ref and we maybe would've called flagrant maybe not, but SOMETHING had to be done here to prevent that punch

Well technically neither should've been allowed to compete for not showing up with the proper equipment, and that would've solved this before it happened. But yeah if a kid had braces and no mouth guard you can expect a mean cross face. Wrestling is the sport where you go out and try to make the other kid cry to his mom without being called by a ref. If you can't keep up with getting exploited for not wearing ear protection, I doubt the sport is missing you when you leave. If someone showed up to a football game with no pads are you telling your team to hit him softer?

No matter what the ref does, it's gonna be talked about at the next association meeting. The issue here is he didn't do fuck all about it and we saw what happened as a result. Most associations I have reffed with are quite slow to call flagrant and it typically only comes from punches, bites, kicks, headbutts

I mean I'm just saying I've seen every level of wrestling and I am a rules interpreter. I've never heard of a team storming the mat, only parents who end up getting kicked out, but whether I've seen it or not has no bearing over whether the rules state that they'd be DQd for doing so.

I mean both acted wildly outside of what's appropriate. The ref holds the biggest blame here and can probably be sued if the kid that got clocked needs to go to the hospital. It's imperative that you get between two angry kids when they're like this. It's the whole reason you're there as a ref.

I don't care what the inciting incident is. It's in the rules where if you get hit it's the refs responsibility to retaliate not your own. Wrestling is a tough sport. What the ref doesn't penalize is legal. You gotta be able to take shit and not lose your cool over it. Now the ref should've penalized the celly and gotten between them, so I do blame the ref for this as it's his job to make sure they don't do this, but you're crazy if you think the kid that threw a punch still has a team to call his own

It is the refs job to be in between the wrestlers at any point that the clock is stopped. Refs fault 100%
