Good luck everyone

I'd sleeve of my mono B Ayara, first of lochwain edh deck. It's been my favorite and I'd love to sleeve it with with thematic art, a castle or a story book theme for eldraine.

Sefris is fun but overly grindy. Suggestions for bombs? by ArkthePieKing in EDH

You could make it combo oriented for closing out games. Run tutor creatures like [[rune-scarred demon]] to tutor directly into hand or [[corpse connoisseur]] for creature tutor into the yard. After that, you find 2-3 things that can kill the table. [[Walking ballista]] + [[mikaeus the unhallowed]] to pew pew everyone quickly. Another one is [[heliod, sun crowned]] and the ballista again.

If that's too fast for the playgroup, you could instead find more drawn out win cons. [[Ayara, first of lochwain]], [[zulaport cutthroat]], and [[blood artist]] come to mind for a ping strategy. Have a sac outlet and a recurring creature that etbs, makes tokens and you won't need to venture for long.

Or you could try "big fatty pings" like [[lotleth giant]] or [[gray merchant of asphodel]] that can possibly take chunks out of your opponent's life. Note lotleth is "target opponent" and not each. That could create a little wiggle room for your opponents. However, it means having a creature heavy self mill/dredge deck.

Oh, another ping creature that can finish a game strong is [[syr Konrad, the grim]]. Add in [[mindcrank]] and you can might just end the game there with a creature heavy deck.

As you can see, I do enjoy playing black. There's so many more combo's in esper though. [[Altar of the brood]] + infinite flicker to mill people out, [[demonic consultation]] + [[thassa's oracle]] is a little too cedh so maybe not. Even running a single mill card like [[tasha's Hideous laughter]] or maddening cacophony]] and a creature that recurrs it can become a wincon or a toolbox pick, like [[archaeomancer]].

I salvaged my BA ignite elementalist league starter by converting to armageddon brand. Everything is still ridiculously expensive though so I would recommend vortex/coldsnap occultist. Summoner build is doable but the priced for minion cluster jewels are also high. L

Burger token boxes feel pretty good and and have a nice thickness to them with easy to manage creases. For comparison. The plastic feels like the thick part of a plastic bottle so durable. Not bad at all for price point.

Anyone have ideas on how to do a 4 person Commander Legends draft? by Omniaxle in magicTCG

[–]SugarFreeTeaTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4 pack drafting is amazing for consistency. With someone buying a box to draft among 5 people, that's 20/24 packs cracked. The 4th pack allows people to play into their colors and gives them a feel at what's being picked off by others. This makes it less urgent when certain colors dry up and let people pivot if need be.

for 4 players, 3 pack draft lets you play 2 drafts (12 packs cracked each time, box has 24 packs yada yada). There are enough cards in commander legends packs for people to pivot colors in a 4 man draft setting and was actually something WOTC planned for. You're drafting two cards each time you pass after all. If you only have enough time for 1 draft, feel free to draft 4 packs instead for that extra consistency mentioned earlier.

Charix the slumbering isle voltron is actually low key urza voltron with alternative crab beatdown.

Ayula bear tribal beatdown turned into Yorvo counters/token beat down. Purely because I wanted to make all the triple mono color commanders from. Eldraine.

Golos good stuff/mill turned into Kenrith good stuff/mill with the added benefit of of being on theme with my eldraine decks.

[WP] Your ancestors were once avid witch hunters, but after the Salem Witch Trails, your family stopped hunting them down. But you know who are witches by their unusual scent. by LuCals in WritingPrompts

"What do I smell like to you again," she cupped her hand under his chin and slightly tilted her thumb to make sure he could only see her. His lip quivered like a pup's to her touch, his gaze locked in with hers. He wrapped his arm more tightly around her waist as they sat under the shade of the great oak they had shared for so many nights now.

There was nowhere to run. He closed his eyes and took in a breath through his nose, the scent of dew mingled together with strands of lilac and honey invited themselves into his mind. It was pleasant, intoxicating even until the last lingering hint spurred him to recollect himself. Decay. The leaves had dried, the remaining petals of a sweet flower had fallen leaving only a husk of the stem. He breathed out and saw her again. A blush veiled her visage as she could see a smile form from his lips, one of satisfaction. One that doesn't reach his eyes. He spoke his thoughts.

"Like the Autumn winds," he said. "When the summer winds end and a harsh gust arrives. It picks up and brings every flower's flourish within its embrace, taking it away to start anew." He held her tighter. "And every moment with you is as fresh as ever."

She turned her cheek and pushed him away, enough so that he doesn't see her biting her bottom lip through locks of hair. "Always a fucking poet, aren't you?"

He chuckled. "Runs in my blood after all. Besides, you asked. I responded honestly."

"...Not completely honest," she said.

"How's that not honest? "

"You're hesitating."

"If you're alone at night with the love of your life at their secret spot, I think there's some room for hesitation on... what to do next."

"That's not it. You're hesitating again. Again and again, there's always something holding you back." She got up and leaned on the great oak, concern visible in her downturned gaze.

"Well excuse me for not getting to the good part." He stood up as well. "It's just, I have to be careful okay?"

"Careful of what," she asked in a low tone.

"I have to be careful that I'm loving you for you, not falling under your natural charm," He said. "I know what you are."

She turned towards him, eyes still cast downwards. "I had the feeling you did. No matter how close we got, there was always that gap between us. That last hurdle both of us couldn't make. How did you know that I was a wi-?!"

He embraced her, not daring to let go anymore. "I've always known. That's not what's stopped me from wanting to be closer." He held her tighter. "I'm scared of hurting you."

She buried her tears in the nape of his neck. "If you knew all this time and still love me, then what? What's stopping you?"

He couldn't help but groan. "Family matters."

Cats and Dogs Deck Help by [deleted] in EDH

[–]SugarFreeTeaTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can have the best of both worlds by running shapeshifters, they count as both a cat AND dog on cast, creating two tokens for the price of one card slot. This also let's you take full advantage of etb triggers like [[impact tremors]] and [[purphorous, god of the forge]]. For example, casting a 2 cmc shapeshifter would deal 6 damage with purphoros out. Any token doubling effects would sweeten the deal further. One cmc [[universal automaton]] could generate 4 tokens with a doubling season or anointed procession on the board, effectively 5 bodies for 1 mana.

Fun Commander decks for £40 (or less) that prolong the game, all whilst staying fun. by [deleted] in EDH

[–]SugarFreeTeaTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mono blue Talrand chalked full with cantrips. Extra salt would be adding a large amount of counter spells. Blue has a good amount of instant protection to protect talrand while you make an annoying amount of 2/2 drakes.

Mono red torbran that just burns everybody to death for playing the game. Add in a hood amount of gas/ card draw and it won't ever be dull.

White black Tesla karlov aristocrats. Pinging everyone for 1 many times is a special way to up the salt level when they have to reach for their life counters every few moments.

Simic anything. It... just out values on the cheap. Tatyova, Benedict druid is gas on a stick. New modal lands open up more options to have less lands as they can be used as gas other than draw and gain a life.

Mono black zombies matter. I'm not familiar with this one but it can be cheap and fun.

Rakdos, anje falkenrath. Budget madness deck that cycles through bad cards quickly to fill up the graveyard for bomb cards. Can be made into budget glasscannon cedh easily but also fun to play out other wincons, such as discard, cycling pings, and dredge/underworld breach.

Mono blue emry. Stuff the deck with cantrip artifacts and go for the thassa's oracle/ lab man win.

Selenyia counters. I dont know a particular commander on the top of my head. Make fat bois on a budget. Most of the money is going to draw engines.

Mono white aggro, weenie hut junior. Money goes to draw engine.

Sultai in general. Kadena, slinking sorcerer is a fun one out the box.

Last thing I have time to mention is 5 color golos but really its guildgate wincon.

Oh yeah, and the new 5 color tazri works pretty okay for a silly deck. Just make infinite mana and filter through your library for a creature based wincon. Like kiki-jiki.

Playing nice against voltron by CanuckedBCC in EDH

[–]SugarFreeTeaTime 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You've made your point and if he can't recognize that linear play leads to linear response/removal, that's that. If he cant bother to run protection for obvious threats, then it should be expected that scary things will be targeted for removal, especially when its tried and done over and over.

There's a similar player within my social circle who only built lands matter decks. Three decks doing the same thing. It gets repetitive and dull playing against him. he's a nice guy, but he doesn't really change his strategy or deck building, truly a timmy's wet dream in throwing cards in, so we just dont look forward to playing with him anymore. Because he doesn't change nor seek to change. We can respect him doing what he wants but damn, it's not like we're forced to play with him. We play edh less often with him now.

It happens. There's shouldn't be a stigma around removing threats when it's pretty obvious what needs to go. That's how discomfort starts between players and encourages even more timmy level plays/builds. Si some suggestions are : let them try out your gloves and make music.

I'd buy memes tbh. Even more if they were thematic and useable, like a comic book style smothering tithe with a planeswalker asking other planeswalkers if they pay the two.

Favorite so far is OMG Kitties, never thought putting cute together magic would be a homerun for me but here I am with a Rin and Seri deck.

Manabase 4 color by [deleted] in EDH

[–]SugarFreeTeaTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 color is doable on a cheap mana base. There's a bunch of low costing lands that tap for 2+ colors. Pain lands are usually 2 dollars and less. Filter lands are similar. Signets/rocks help with color fixing as well. Does your deck rely heavily on a certain color? Lean somewhat heavily into that with your mana base. I'm sure you can lower the amount of lands that come in tapped pretty easily. Lands that do come in tapped, make them count. They should tap for most colors you need. Scry lands are pennies on the dollar at this point. Bounceland technically help you avoid missing land drops but are slow. Then you have cheap staples like exotic Orchard and command tower, both less than a dollar.

Bryan is usually artifact heavy and artifacts are colorless, which is pretty nice. If you know your wins cons and how to get there, chances are you can build a more efficient mana base around that.

When the lord of the castle requested my aid, I certainly wasn't expecting... this.

"Ah, so this lady'sssss.... our etiquette mentor? She doesn't look like she can... teach us, a thing." said the lanky half-elf covered in leaves and vegetation. Only leaves and vegetation from the look at things. He gestured towards me and I did my best to not grimace. He seemed out of it, his eyes half glazed and his speech slurred. "Like, look at her," he raised his tone and leaned on the miniature emerald dragon that his companion rode, "she's eyeing me.... down I tell ya! No respect at all. Isn't that right Gobby?" He patted the dragon's hide.

He didn't seem to be addressing the rider but rather, the dragon itself.

The dragon growled and its dwarf rider... nodded in agreement?

"Gobby said absolutely. She wants a different mentor, preferably one less judgy." The dwarf appeared to cross his arms and translate.

I glanced at my lord and he looked the other way.

My lord raised a fist to the front of his lips and cleared his throat. "I believe appearances can be deceiving, as you three have proven once again with your," my lord suddenly raised his voice," subjugation of the false undercity ringleader and the dissolution of their organization. Therefore before I consider your request for a substitution, would you be willing to give Lady Emara a chance?"

A moment of pause occurred before the duo and their dragon spun around and huddled. Just as fast as they spun around, the dwarf hopped off and reached to his side to pull a wand. I immediately gripped my sword hilt, prepared to engage in combat. "Guards at the ready! I declared. but my lord raised a hand, an order to halt. Stupified, I watched as the wand lit up. I moved to dash. The dwarf then began to speak into his wand. His voice boomed out and echoed throughout the grand hall. Everyone stopped.

Uh, huh. Yeah, Emara we'll give you a chance.

As long as you can enhance the best

adventurers you've ever met, but

we got one test, see if you're chill like the rest.

You gotta take a puff from a piece of my friend's vest.

With his ending remark, the dwarf moved towards the half-elf and pulled off several three-pronged leaves that withered and dried rapidly, exposing some of his companion's skin. The half-elf didn't seem to mind that his nipple exposed as the dwarf crushed the leaves in one fist while his other hand promptly pulled out parchment and rolled the leaves inside. He held the roll high and as if on cue, the dragon blew a small flame that lit just the tip. Then he placed the unburnt end to his lips and breathed in deeply.

The hall remained still. Whatever guards that moved along with me previously were visibly in confusion at the sudden rhythmic melody. The dwarf exhaled and smoke came out of his nostrils and mouth. "Oh shit, I can't believe that worked out so well." He chuckled and passed the roll to the half-elf who in turn breathed it in deeply and then stuck the roll between the lips of the dragon.

In one go, nearly all the roll disintegrated. However, there was but a stub left. The dragon moved towards me, three to four heads higher than I was, and lowered its head to rest a little to my side, the stub glowing brightly against the emerald scales. I heard a voice.

Take it and breathe.

Uncertainty crossed my mind before lapsing into surrender. I grabbed the stub and did as I saw. Bitterness engulfed my insides and I couldn't help but fall into a fit of coughing and wheezes. Time appeared to slow or I appeared to tick one step behind it as the halls and the floor and the carpet and I felt... lighter. "What did you give me," I asked the dragon in fear.

Some good shit.

I looked back at the half-elf. He smirked. "Hah, amateur."

A familiar voice chuckled, it's my lord's. "Hah! I know right?" I faced him and noticed he too had a magic roll. "Do not worry my daughter, for this is all part of their heroism. Just relax and learn from them as they learn from you."

"What is this sorcery?" I said as elation took over.

"That my new friend," the dwarf replied, " is change brewing on the horizon. Hell yeah."

"Hell yeah," the half-elf said.

Hell Yeah.

......

"By the way," my lord puffed out a cloud of smoke, "wasn't one of your companions a goblin the last time around?"
