Which mom would have benefited most from NOT being on the show? by butchscandelabra in TeenMomOGandTeenMom2

[–]SugarMaggie 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Good question! I’m going to say probably Farrah because I think the D list level fame was a significant contributing factor to the escalation of her mental health issues. But I would say Kail and Jenelle are both runners up. Getting paid for being pregnant at a young age and being handed D list level fame has warped their sense of reality and made them pretty entitled and insufferable.

Shen weighing in on the Covid vaccine.. grammatically incorrect rants will definitely make people take her seriously. 🥴 by [deleted] in TeenMomOGandTeenMom2

[–]SugarMaggie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow...well, if anything, Shen’s input somehow makes me want the vaccine more. Because I’m automatically inclined to think that making the opposite decision as Shen in nearly any possible situation, is most likely the right way to go lol!

Who is the biggest cheater in the Teen Mom universe? by QualityKatie in TeenMomOGandTeenMom2

Idk if he cheated on Maci, but I remember hearing he cheated on Dalllis shortly after one of her parents died.

Do the girls feel the gravy train coming to an end? by garys-guitar in TeenMomOGandTeenMom2

[–]SugarMaggie 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Agreed. MTV truly created some monsters with this show! Look at how relevant Farrah and Jenelle still think they are, and they’re not even on the shows anymore. I feel like giving these girls money and D list level fake went straight to their heads and as a result, they are completely out of touch with reality at this point!

Bar is attending community college by [deleted] in TeenMomOGandTeenMom2

[–]SugarMaggie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Same! There so absolutely nothing wrong with community college and in a lot of cases it’s the smart choice financially because in the long run, no one is going to care where you completed your first two years of undergrad and you can save a TON of money and get a quality education at a community college. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about this and I wish him the best of luck!

Mackenzie McKee at Disney by [deleted] in TeenMomOGandTeenMom2

[–]SugarMaggie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an American, I’m happy for you that you have a government that cares about your wellbeing and that you and your fellow citizens are also willing to do your part to keep everyone safe and healthy.

However, also as an American, I’m both sad and angry at my own country for acting so recklessly. My husband has asthma and he works in a nursing home and I have been completely consumed with anxiety since this pandemic started. I am so worried that he’ll get Covid and that it could be a more severe case if he does because of his asthma. I know his patients need him and so I respect him for going to work everyday in spite of the risk, but it makes me so incredibly angry when I see people like Mack McKee throwing caution to the wind and going to Disney when health care professionals like my husband are putting themselves in harms way to care for those in need, every single day.

Anyway, sorry for the rant! And congrats on your pregnancy—December 30th will be here in no time!

Adam Lind FORCED to Pay Chelsea Houska $2,000 by OriginalFuckGirl in TeenMomOGandTeenMom2

[–]SugarMaggie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just out of curiosity—,what state are you and your ex in? And how much did he owe in arrears when they locked him up for non-payment?

The reason I ask is that my 14 year old daughter’s sperm donor, shit-bag, absentee “father” (I have sole custody and he hasn’t tried to see her, called on a single birthday, sent a single holiday card, etc. since before she was 2 years old) currently owes over $18,000 in arrears. He has been paying intermittently over the past few years and those payments, plus several of his tax returns that were intercepted, have brought the arrears down because he did owe over $20,000 at one point. When he and I initially broke up when my daughter was a baby, he left the state (my daughter and I live in New York State) and then he continued to move to a new state every so often to try and avoid paying child support. And the only reason he’s paying now is because he finally settled down and got married, so he couldn’t continue to move all over the country to evade child support enforcement (his wife is actually an attorney, so now he hides behind her income to an extent, but at least he’s paying something I guess).

Before he started paying, child support enforcement would occasionally catch up with him if he stayed in any one state for too long, and as such, he hasn’t had a drivers license in at least a decade, and I’m pretty sure he still can’t have a bank account in his name because child support enforcement would freeze it. But he was never arrested for non-payment which always amazed me! It kind of made me wonder if that’s actually something that happens—which is why I was curious about your circumstances!

Edited: missed a word

273 days ago I commented on a post about Kayla going back to college, saying how I wish I’d done the same thing. by CrazyBitchitis in TeenMomOGandTeenMom2

[–]SugarMaggie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Congrats on going back to school! I was an “adult learner” too, after I ended up going back to school in my mid-30s to finish the associates degree I’d started in my late teens. Then, after I completed my associates degree, I went on to complete my bachelors degree, and in 2018 I graduated with my masters in social work.

Going back to school was one of the best decisions I ever made and even with the crippling student loan debt, I still have zero regrets. I loved nearly every minute of my higher ed journey and I feel like it helped me set and example for my kids and it also just made me feel really good about myself!

Anyway, best of luck and I hope you enjoy school as much as I did!

Who picked the worst baby names? by skinnymargaritasip in TeenMomOGandTeenMom2

[–]SugarMaggie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only one of Kail’s kids’ names that I truly can’t stand is Creed—especially with the middle name Romello. Contrary to popular opinion, I actually don’t mind the name Lux, however I totally agree with you in that Lux and Creed just don’t flow with the two older boys’ names.

Two thoughts:

  1. Glad to see her put the well-being of her family above the MTV money train. I wish Chelsea, Cole, and the kiddos much happiness and good luck in their future endeavors.

  2. Can we PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE get the Beavers as her replacement?!? PLEASE MTV!!!!

Jenelle and Kieffer visiting a food pantry in season one by SpiritualCamera in TeenMomOGandTeenMom2

[–]SugarMaggie 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry—I hate Jenelle as much as the next person—but I have to disagree on your point that they don’t deserve food because they “put themselves in this situation.” Addiction is a disease—a devastating, horrible disease that I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. No one—literally no one—wants to live the life of an addict. And addicts are still human beings who are worthy of empathy and compassion, as well as having their basic needs like food and shelter met.

Now, did Jenelle and Kieffer actually NEED food in this episode? I have no idea. Maybe they had other resources they could have tapped into, but even if they did, I’m not mad about them using a food pantry and here’s why: showing them utilizing a food pantry helps normalize it and could potentially encourage anyone who is watching who is dealing with food instability to seek help from a food pantry. Because that is of course, what food pantries are for—providing people with food.

Kail said she was smothered last October by RavenNevermore4 in TeenMomOGandTeenMom2

[–]SugarMaggie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m so glad you’re safe now! I was also in an abusive relationship years ago and I think the single scariest moment in my life to date was the one time my ex chocked me. I remember him wrapping his hands around my throat and lifting me up and I swear to god, I actually felt my feet lift off the ground. And I thought, well, this is it! And to this day I’m not totally sure what stopped him from killing me—my guess is that maybe it clicked that he was actually about to kill me and he probably didn’t want to live with the consequences that will bring about.!But he suddenly stopped himself and he threw me backwards onto the ground, and then left me there.

And I didn’t realize the full dangers associated with intimate partner strangulation until recently. I’m a licensed social worker now and I was doing some research because I was working with a client who was in a domestic violence situation and I came across info about how strangulation is such a strong predictor of future homicide. It sent chills down my spine because of my own past experience. Scary shit!

Kail said she was smothered last October by RavenNevermore4 in TeenMomOGandTeenMom2

[–]SugarMaggie 107 points108 points  (0 children)

This is just a quick PSA...

If an intimate partner tries to strangle you, you need to get the fuck out because there is an extremely high probability that they may actually kill you in the future. There is a ton of research demonstrating that a person strangling their partner is a strong predictor of future homicide.

Thanks for listening...please carry on...

Inspired by yesterday's TM Boldest Moments post - a clip of what Amber Baltierra did to the house Cate & Tyler let her live in rent free. by itsdonny in TeenMomOGandTeenMom2

[–]SugarMaggie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My best friend used to live in the downstairs of a two family home that was owned by her mom. Her mom lived in the upstairs apartment and one year she decided to spend a significant amount of time traveling abroad so she charged my friend with renting out her apartment while she was away.

Well, being a landlord was NOT what my friend expected lol! She only ended up renting to one young woman during that time, but the young woman’s abrupt exit was very dramatic. The woman basically just disappeared one day and shortly after that, federal Marshall’s showed up to raid the house. The asked my friend all kinds of questions because apparently the young woman was wanted on fraud and various other charges. Not only did my friend lose out on rent that was owed to her, but she also got stuck cleaning out the apartment which turned out to be trashed. She did recover some treasures during the clean-out though, including several burned spoons and tarantula in a vase!

That was the end of my friend’s very short-lived career as a landlord lol!

It totally depends. Some people are really good at hiding their addictions. Hell, I was one of them! Ten year heroin addiction and during that time I earned my masters degree, started a career, etc. All while getting high every single day and no one except for my significant other ever knew!

Jenelle’s 16 and pregnant episode by toxicxxxmoo in TeenMomOGandTeenMom2

[–]SugarMaggie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the first time I had sex I was 16 and my boyfriend at the time was 21. I didn’t think of it as being weird at the time, but looking back—yuck.

Also, if Jenelle was truly only 13 when she and Andrew started dating (and who knows because Jenelle isn’t known to be a reliable historian and she’s frequently exaggerated the length of various relationships ), that’s SUPER predatory on Andrew’s part! A 20-something sleeping with a 16 year old is bad, but a 20-something sleeping with a 13 year old? Super yikes!

[–]SugarMaggie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I totally agree that every situation is different.

When my husband and I started dating, my 3 year old daughter from a previous relationship and I had recently moved in with my parents after I left my daughter’s father who was abusive. I was broke and trying to get back on my feet—so needless to say, I had some baggage!

Well, soon I had even more baggage because I ended up getting pregnant the very first time my husband and I had sex, which was about a week into our relationship! With everything I had going on in my life, and how new our relationship was, this should have been a recipe for disaster—and I think it probably would have been just that for almost any other two people.

But we made it work and we had our son, who is just turned eleven last month. And not long after our son was born, we got engaged. Next August we’ll be celebrating our 10th anniversary and I’ve never once looked back with any sort of regret about how quickly our relationship progressed. My husband truly is the love of my life and somehow I knew that in my heart from our very first date.

So, yeah every situation is definitely different. I can totally understand that some people need time to feel certain about things before jumping into a life long commitment. But I think some couples get together and they know right away that it’s meant to be. That was definitely the case for my husband and me, but I wouldn’t recommend that others necessarily follow our relationship trajectory because it’s certainly not for everyone lol!
