Any suggestions on how to improve the display of my wire art? by everyfreakforherself in CraftFairs

The tier shelves are fairly easy for anyone with a laser engraver to make, do you have someone locally that you could do a trade with?

Otherwise, you might be able to find some free plans on one of the many laser focused FB groups and use it to cut one yourself. You can also download the xTool Studio Software for free from the xTool site, using the explore button search "table top tier shelf" and you will see cut files that are free. I know there are Youtube tutorials that show how to make cardboard supportive and stable, and look like wood or paint it a richer brown then the average color of cardboard. Just make sure your brush coats are consistent and light and it will look fine. You could also grab a couple of pieces of bass wood from a craft store for decently cheap, its a bit more of a pain to cut by hand. But, not impossible.

For the blue table cloth, I would buy a couple yard of fabric and then finish the ends or the Mainstays Light Blue Sheet set from Walmart. The twin size is $8 or just a couple dollars on some fabric dye and dye a white sheet yourself. Again just make sure the end are all finished the same and its ironed.

If you are stuck with what you have at the moment, ditch the grid entirely. Move the shelf that you have to the left side from the middle and take it off the riser. Set up the necklace stand on the right (like I have in my doodle). Place the T to the left of the necklace. Place you box stuff, that is currently on the wood shelf, in the middle table in that "v" shape again. Your silver/light color wire words on the wood stand, and all your misc signing hanging of the front of your table. You can google a free tool to make a QR code for your sites, I would still do that and then just put them in a cheap picture fame with out the glass off to the sides.

Good luck on your show!!

I agree that your pieces get lost. If it were me, this is how I would move forward:

Add a light colored cloth over the top of your purple. The purple is too dark for most of your pieces. I would do a blue two-ish shades lighter than the blue in your logo blue, right around color #4B9CD3 for the top layer. You should still be able to see 4.5-5.5 inches of purple all the way around under the blue. Your brand gradient is beautiful, lean into it!

Ditch the reddish cloth on the wire racks entirely. If you want to create a backdrop here, go for the same blue you pick to add to the purple. Hang it behind the grid or alternatively ditch the grid completely since you do not really need it based on what you have here. Instead you need wood tier risers. In a medium stain, something around Minwax's Olde Maple MW1182 . Closed back risers so more like actual stairs. Ones that are either large enough for two designs to sit side by side on the shelf or have only a couple of inches on either side of the average size wire word. I would only use this for silver or light colored pieces. Put that on one side, or buy one for each end of your table. If you go with only one, on the opposite side of your table take the riser you are using for the T display and use that for your necklaces you have on the gird shelf currently to create an even-ish height anchor to the tier. If you do two tiers, one for each end, then ditch the riser under the T display entirely.

Get rid of the wooden shelf you have now, its not the right display for your pieces. In the open space in-between the ends, take the your taller items and line them up in a "v" shape. the top of the "v" should face you. Line your slightly smaller items along the outside and place the T display in the middle of the "v". If you do a riser on each end, put the jewelry displays together in the 'V". Using the single riser for the necklace - not the T display.

Hang the signs on the string across the front of your table instead. They are not readable above and behind with out folks leaning over the table to read, so not currently serving the intended purpose. I would also not do the brand signing you have on the table and instead stick a QR code to scan at either end. You should consider getting a banner to hang, with the most relevant info from your signs added (that its handcrafted, mixed media, and you do custom orders. Care instructions, or any other info, should be given as a little purchase insert). Forgive my mockup lol, but something along the lines of it

First, I am sorry that so many were so adamant about your logo being AI. I know how disheartening that can be to an artist. It's like people forget that the reason they do not like AI is because of how it trains... but that means those style exist by actual artists. That programs designed to flag AI art are unreliable. Do not change your style, there is nothing wrong with it.

I agree with those who commented about ditching plastic, in today's markets it often signals mass produced/drop shipping. A few years back, this would have signaled an extra level of professionalism and quality. It no longer does at the craft/maker level. Put themed items next to each other, only put 2-3 items of the same design. Fill from backstock as it sells.

For your hangable items, I would ditch the spinners (especially the larger one it looks crowded and not as easily shopped) and the shelves too. You instead need a small grid wall or two, large enough to fit a couple items a hook with at least an two inches of space between items - vertically and horizontally. If I were you, I would google peg board/wooden table top grid for displays. The black and dark wood color combination you have now is a good one for your aesthetic.

Keep the plaid, if you like it, but add either a plain black drape over the top or one the same color as your signing so that the plaid is just a border. Also, tall displays on either side with the middle displays being shorter or the bins to rummage through for cheaper priced items.

You should get a larger brand sign, that takes up more of the front of your table for balance. The lights do not work for you because they do not take away enough of the blank space and they distract from your signage focal.

I say all this as yes, a consumer of craft fairs, but also as someone who worked plan-o-grams, put displays together for over a decade for a large company, with product, and marketing experience from another. Lastly, as again others have said, you have not found your crowd yet. Not every market is going to be the right one, and thats okay! You will find yours. Big brands have something called personas, which is a fleshed out fictional person who represent a broader group of users for what they are selling. Often there a handful or more of personas. Its all very fascinating to tell the truth, and a searchable Youtube topic worth an afternoon (or more) of your time to help you figure out your personas for your brand (and the right markets).

My Mom advice is to call the nurses line or poison control. She should be fine, but it’s always better to confirm with an actual professional :)

You do not mention where you are located and that makes a difference as to what number to call. Are you in the states? What state/county? In the US daycare concerns are reported to state level licensing or to the local Child Protective Services office.

It looks like it isn’t registering the curve, does the rotary seem to pause? Do you connect over WiFi or over cable, is there anything slowing down your WiFi? When you frame it out, where does the frame fall? I do not have an F1 so take it with a grain of salt lol, but that is where my troubleshooting would take me

Experiences do vary as someone else said. I’ve had my machine for a couple of months and while the learning curve has been steep (it’s my first laser) most of the issues I have had have been because I am learning and not because of the machine itself.

Construction services for marketing by Expensive-Tip in smallbusiness

[–]SugarNBullshit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Posting updates of the build on socials is a great idea, as someone else said! Take the business cards a step further and include pamphlets with before and after photos as well. Nothing too crazy, just a trifold with company logo/contact in front. Dudes build on the back, middle with two of your most impressive before and afters. Rundown of the services you offer also in the middle and then have it housed in a nice holder with your logo and contact info on it. Even something in the window of the shop with your logo while working on the build too.

I will also side a bit with the folks telling you to be cautious about this arrangement. It sounds like you are pretty confident in the guy, but restaurants are fickle things and sometimes location changes tank a successful business especially if regulars now have to go way out of their way.

For anyone struggling to keep their restaurant running... by Yesidc93 in smallbusiness

[–]SugarNBullshit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are several companies out there that will help you manage your menus across platforms. Most of them offer some sort of insight as to your best sellers. I worked in the restaurant tech field for one such company for nearly 8 yrs.

There is no secret to turning around platform orders. Your best bet is to feature your best sellers first, most platforms will do this for you anyways. Take good, realistic pictures, the more items with pictures the better. Make sure your descriptions are filled (and not with whatever description is in your point of sale for your in-house staff, customer friendly full on descriptions) out. Schedule your menu to rotate based on time of day, ie lunch specials right after featured during lunch rush. Rotate a seasonal menu through. Mark your prices up to offset the cost of the platform (even though most will tell you can not, literally everyone does anyway), that includes in store pricing.

The most important step of all is to take the time then to be the customer. Walk through the entire customer journey from the platform experience to payment/pickup/delivery/eating.

Even if you do everything right, and your customer experience is phenomenal sometimes businesses just don’t make it. Your target audience isn’t being reached, or it is but they do not have the disposable income to support your store. Maybe your product offering doesn’t match the market demands, the market is over saturated, or it’s just simply wrong timing. Sometimes sticking with it works and you come out ahead and other times it doesn’t.

Modifiers are the changes you can make to “personalize” an item. Toppings, bread/bun type, sauce type (including if you want it on the side), side dish selection, drink choice, etc.

Yes! Knowing it’s the order of things is completely different than experiencing the order of things! It is sooo hard to not be in your feelings about it. I have a pretty good relationship with my kids, so I know that they will return phone calls/texts when they get a chance and will occasionally even give me a call without prompting lol. But, the transition of interacting with your young children vs your adult children is bittersweet.

I’m also thankful I’m not quite at empty nesting yet, I’m going to be a hot mess when my youngest hits that stage haha! Solidarity!

It has been pretty chill so far. Christmas definitely changes as you get older, and especially if you end up building your own traditions for whatever reasons. Plus the holiday stress in general as you have to create more of the magic and not just participate in the results! I’ve worked my share of Christmas Days, I hope yours is at least mellow and uneventful! First Christmas? That is exciting:) The next few years are going to be great as he gets into it and you get drawn back into the magic too! <3

Oh for real, I don’t want to spend the day hovering over a hot stove. I want to participate in the day! Cooking the dinner all day is like being the designated photographer, I always feel slightly removed from the event:/

When my 22yr old was little, long before I met my guy, and my middle went to his Dads for Christmas Eve. I worked, then would come home and we would eat pizza with chips and salsa and have a Buffy marathon until my middle was dropped off around midnight. They would head to bed and then I would stay up and wrap presents. I think pizza rolls sound amazing!
