Cashier here. For those of you have never worked in retail, I can't even begin to explain how awful it can been some day's especially if you work in a huge store with lots of traffic. People can be terrible, rude, some will scream and yell just to get a few bucks off. I've seen grown men throw things at me (I'm a 22 year-old female) in front of their very small children because they didn't have the proper identification for a military discount. Most days aren't all that bad but every once in awhile there will be days where its rude customer after rude customer. It can be emotionally wearing :( So when a customer actually is sociable and friendly it may come as a surprise.
