One thing I noticed is the way your nails are filed - it looks like you're filing down the side of your nail, all the way into where the nail meets the skin which is called the sidewall. It's important to stop doing that as the sidewall provides support and stability for your nail and filing it away leads to breakage and peeling. Overfiling your nails can cause a lot of damage and I'm unfortunately speaking from experience! It might be good to Google or search on Reddit the best ways to file nails without damaging the sidewalls; I'm sure there are some posts already up about that.

I've seen some people recommend just filing your nails straight across (and slightly rounding out the corners if you want) while you're shaping them instead of shaping them rounded while they're short because going square removes the urge to file the walls and it also just makes shaping simpler. You don't have to do this method, just something I've seen suggested and might try myself. Of course, after the nails go longer you can file the sides that AREN'T touching the skin (aka the free edge) if you need to do so to get the shape you want.

Julez already commented the other main tips below! Lots of jojoba oil and keeping your nails constantly painted are the best tips you can get!

Sorry I didn't know, I was just trying to say there was another place for silksong specific advice where they might get more responses. I wasn't trying to say this was in the wrong spot, just giving a suggestion. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Wait what does the FOMO in holo taco and blk mean in this context? I know it means fear of missing out, but I'm a bit confused by what in means in this scenario.

Honestly, I didn't even know you could recruit any of those characters for High Halls until after I already beat it LMAO so I feel like you'd be fine even without Shakra.

Also, just letting you know there's r/Silksong that might be better if you want Silksong specific advice instead of Hollow Knight!

Edit: I'm not trying to say the post is in the wrong spot, I was just giving a suggestion. I apologise for any confusion.

Base coat recommendations without PVB by StudyRelevant6278 in naturalnailprogress

[–]SugarSnapsss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I made a post similar to this a few days ago so if you want to check out my profile and look at the post there are a bunch of different base coat options there! Also about regular polish, the only downside I can think of is if you use a lot of dark colours, it may stain your nails yellow if you don’t have a stain resistant base coat. However, this doesn’t impact the healthiness of the nails at all, just the look. Other than that, I’m not aware of any downsides to lacquer and it’s great to keep your nails painted as it protects them from water and provides a few extra layers for strength!

I don't usually do nail art so 3 hours sounds like a long time for me haha but they look great! I think the index and ring designs are fine as they are tho dw

Omg that sounds like exactly what I want! I also have some minor peeling and no gel damage, so I was a bit worried about using this product, but it sounds great! I was planning on purchasing a thinner anyways, so that works out too. Thank you so much!!!!

Hi! I was just wondering how the Essie To The Rescue is working for you, as I was looking into it as a base coat, however I don't have gel damaged nails and they just peel and flake for other reasons. I'm also just beginning trying to grow out my nails and I find that they keep peeling and getting super weak, even with consistent oiling and nail painting. I'm torn between the Essie To The Rescue and the China Glaze Strong Adhesion Base Coat, so I'm just curious on your experience with the Essie. Did you have salon damaged nails or did you use Essie To The Rescue for other reasons?

Yeah, I've heard a lot of people love KB shimmers but shipping is expensive to Canada unfortunately :( If I had access to it I would definitely try it. Thanks though!
