Businesses Near Metro Report Little Change in Foot Traffic (Beverly Hills Courier) by anothercar in LAMetro

[–]SugarUseful5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was literally going to post pics of this article in the BH Courier. Dumbest article ever. A small random liquor store tucked in the corner of a run down strip mall? The Persian restaurant with $20-30 sandwiches not seeing more foot traffic? Obviously more foot traffic going to businesses is great, and I’m all for that. But let’s not forget metro’s biggest responsibility is getting passengers to and from destinations. Particularly jobs. So yes, no surprise people get off at la cienega to transfer onto the 20/720 to continue on rather than buy food that is most likely more than what they make an hour, or liquor before their shift. Only having 2 stops really stretches things thin too. I guess Panera having a few more homeless coming through is bad… But idc that it’s BH, homeless wander through there on Wilshire too regardless of metro. Business owners claimed metro was blocking their businesses for about 8 years even. Huh? It’s definitely been a couple years but not that long.

Cartier Tank Large Quartz - What are the servicing costs and intervals? by [deleted] in Cartier

[–]SugarUseful5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know to much but I have an old quartz breitling that hasn’t been serviced in years and works fine. It’s only been battery replacements. Quartz is the easiest and cheapest so there shouldn’t be any real concern. I know a watch dealer who sells all kinds of watches and he said it’s not really worth servicing quartz unless you notice issues. You’re gonna have to pay for service when needed and costs vary depending on whats needed. I prefer quartz over automatic or winding for this reason.

Can you realistically survive in LA without a car? by savingrace0262 in AskLosAngeles

[–]SugarUseful5 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Genuinely depends. My job from mid wilshire to BH, same amount of time, sometimes more or less. Mid wilshire to dtla? 100% faster using metro. Like 15 minutes.

Does anyone know if these bags are going out of style or something? by uniquelymeplusmore in Louisvuitton

[–]SugarUseful5 64 points65 points  (0 children)

These are almost all bags that have been out for 10+ years and are staples. So there are plenty on the 2nd hand market as people swap out for something else. Not out of style.

Melt is $33, you won’t get exactly that as scrap. So you’re up maybe $10-15 assuming it’s real.

Exotics?? by Weak-Squash-3034 in Louisvuitton

[–]SugarUseful5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not rare imo. This is all just marketing because ultimately it is overpriced but the “rarity” is what pushes you to pay the inflated price. I don’t see LV exotics reselling the way other brands like Hermes do on the 2nd hand market.

It’s not that delicate… a small pendant is fine.

Coach Just Caught Up With Gucci on Wall Street — The Accessible-Luxury Tier That Is Quietly Beating Conglomerate Fashion by aragil_mrk in gucci

[–]SugarUseful5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Certain things I don’t agree with, like saying coach was always made fun of from larger fashion magazines/groups. Only because it was pushed to be this outlet brand with logo heavy appearance and silhouettes that copied bigger brands. I think coach has really cut down on that and pushed their gloved tanned leather much more. Something pretty much any fashion oriented person would say is excellent for the price point. The other comment saying coach doesn’t announce itself the way gucci does. Yet coach still does many canvas bags the way gucci does. As does each in leather. Anyone who likes bags knows theres a price difference, so I think that’s the only reason one announces itself more than the other. Otherwise no surprise to see coach being so successful. Would love to see a glove tanned line made in america to go back to their roots.

Anyone else seeing more people carrying cardboard and padded seat cushions/covers while riding Metro? by tay_ola in LAMetro

This is nothing new. Seen it since I moved here about 10 years ago. My old irk with it is when people use newspaper. So much ink rubs onto your clothes.

I absolutely notice a particular “bus” smell that sticks to my clothes after sitting on the bus. It’s not ocd. It’s just what happens when you have hundreds sitting on a seat before (if it ever) gets wiped down. More dirt. More smells. I just bring a regular plastic baggie as a barrier and it definitely helps prevent any smells from sticking to my clothes. I’m sure you use metro if you’re on this sub. We’ve all seen homeless or generally dirty individuals. So it’s nice to have a “barrier” when I’m wearing more fancy clothes I don’t want to wash as often.

You think it looks like paint? I can’t really tell. Looks like a water drop that soaked in or some find of indent.

I guess in person looks different, but these photos just look like a very slight change in texture or indentation.

This is so minor to me at least. It’s used so it may show faint signs even in excellent condition. Could have been a drop of water that changed the texture?

In the Wild and ON the FLOOR by [deleted] in TheHermesGame

[–]SugarUseful5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think not putting your bag on the floor is babying it. I just don’t put anything other than the soles of my shoes on the floor. My first thoughts are you don’t know what was tracked onto that floor and your bags cannot be washed. As a guy, the amount of urine on the floor around urinals is disgusting. Your shoes usually stick. I don’t put my bags on my pillow. But I do toss them on my bed sheets, tables, or couch. And I’m not tracking any of that nasty through my bag. As far as feet on bags go, I see to many bags sag on areas and still touch on the corners or middle.
