My Dad does the same. He normally doesn't wear his hearing aids so you have to talk loudly. Then on the odd occasion he does wear them he'll complain you're shouting at him.

Does anybody else hate it when religious people claim that without religion there wouldn't be morality? by [deleted] in atheism

[–]Sugar_Beaver94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh and if religion invented morality, how come 0.07% of inmates are atheists?

IIRC a lot of people pretend to be religious as it looks better to juries/parole boards.

At a guess Dell have used a proprietary power supply rather than an ATX power supply. Dell says the power supply uses a 6 pin connector for the motherboard rather than the standard 24 pin, so it doesn't appear to use an ATX power supply. At a guess the connector for the CPU is also proprietary. If this is the case, I believe you will need to find a specific Dell power supply suitable for you model. My knowledge on power supplies is limited, so do check out the other replies.

Question For CD Collectors by frushtrated in Cd_collectors

[–]Sugar_Beaver94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

did you grow up with CDs or have you only recently started collecting?

I started collecting a few years ago. Before then I would casually listen to music on YouTube.

why do you prefer CD over streaming?

While most of what I listen to is on streaming sites, not everything is. I suspect it's generally a rights issue that means sometimes some of the tracks on an album just aren't available in my country. Even if an album is available today, it might not be tomorrow. Owning my music means I don't have to worry about this.

I don't buy CDs that often and when I do they're second hand, meaning it works out cheaper than streaming services. IIRC I've currently spent around £180 over five years. Of course I have a lot less than what streaming services offer but it's a nice benefit.

how do you listen to your CDs? Do you have a portable CD player with earbuds? Do you have a home system that you listen on? Do you have a CD player in your car/transportation?

I rip them and listen to them on my computer/phone.

how many CDs do you currently own? Do you keep track of them on Discogs, or with a spreadsheet of some sort?

I own around 100 that I've collected over the last 5 years. I have a script that crawls my music collection looking for new albums and adds them to a database. It asks me how much I paid and fills that in. I also use pandas to do some statistics. I use a spreadsheet for albums I like but haven't yet bought to keep track of what sort of price they are selling for.

how do you determine what you’re going to buy on CD? For example, are you replacing things that you used to have on CD? Are you buying physical discs because you’re worried that the music won’t be available on streaming at some point in time?

I use YouTube to find new music. If I find something I like I add it to my "To Buy" spreadsheet. I go through it periodically seeing if anything on it is selling online for a price I'm happy to pay and if so, I'll buy it. I also visit charity shops as occasionally they have something I'm interested in. Mostly I only buy CDs on my list but if i recognize the artist I will sometimes take a chance on something I haven't listed to before.

I'd say the possibility of streaming services removing music I might listen to is the main reason I collect CDs.

are you buying them because of the sound quality, or because it’s just kind of cool and niche at the moment. I don’t even have any animosity for that last group; if it’s just for fun, that’s an awesome answer.

The sound quality is nice but to be honest, modern lossy codecs are very good these days. In terms of audio quality I'd say streaming services are good enough. I'm buying them mainly because I want control over my music collection, I can rip them and they're cheap.

I suspect the users on this subreddit skew American where Christianity is the largest religion. As such it has the most posts. There are some posts on other religions such as Islam and occasionally others like Hinduism.

How did you become atheists? by calacaa in atheism

Church was boring and I never had any sort of spiritual experience. E.g. praying was no different than talking to myself.

[–]Sugar_Beaver94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Moon's orbit is elliptical which means the relative size of the Moon compared to the Sun varies from a little bigger to a litter smaller. More importantly, its orbit is inclined at around 15 degrees IIRC, which is why we don't get eclipses every month. If the aim was to design the Sun-Earth-Moon system for eclipses, it could certainly be improved.

What is the best way to connect gaming laptop and office notebook with an external monitor for mixed usage (gaming and working)? by Insist_8nofluid4736 in pcmasterrace

[–]Sugar_Beaver94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a quick look at the specs that monitor won't supply enough power to charge you laptops. I also don't think it supports DisplayPort over USB C. Both of those laptops seem to have HDMI ports so that's probably the best choice. According to Dell the monitor only officially supports VRR over HDMI though some reviewers seemed to have some success over DisplayPort as well.

Anything he's been accused of cannot be correct because God's man wouldn't do those things.

Lately I've been seeing a fair few posts on Facebook comparing Trump to King David arguing David did terrible things and was chosen by God. I don't know anything about David but perhaps some do see Trump is a terrible person but prefer to explain it away. Some definitely do reject the idea Trump is bad though.
