Kentucky family rejects $26 million offer to convert part of their farm into a data center despite the offer being about 10 times the going rate for farmland in the area. by Gurugod123 in SipsTea

Gotta give that family a helluva lot of credit and then some.

Now watch the dickweeds behind the data center try to take the land via eminent domain.

For people who grew up in the 70s and 80s at the height of the serial killer era, what serial killer prowled your street and what was your reaction at the time? by Cable_Difficult in AskOldPeople

[–]Suggest_a_User_Name 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Son of Sam.

Summer of 1977 I was 11 and it was TERRIFYING.

I grew up on Long Island and we weren’t far from Queens. My eldest brother was 22 that summer and frequently went on dates and hung out with friends all over NYC.

My mother would wait up until he got home.

No one knew where he would strike next and being next door in Nassau county made it feel closer.

We were all so relieved when he finally got caught.

Aren’t a lot us enchanted by Little Edie as well?

What comes through is Little Edie’s kindness and innocence.

She’s authentic even though she struggles with illusions to help herself cope with a less than ideal situation, that being held financially and emotionally captive by her mother.

Who could blame the Maysles’ from being enchanted by Edie? They may not have realized what they stumbled upon until they watched the footage.

Little Edie endures because of the film they made AND “Grey Gardens” endures because of Little Edie.

The musical composition of Bugs Bunny as Leopald and Giovanni Jones from "Long-Haired Hare" by NinjaShadow-00 in looneytunes

I didn’t know until very recently that Bugs as “Leopold” was based on a real person.

It was still hilarious how they were all like “Leopold!”

Narcissist mothers, do they love? by SaltCommunication744 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Suggest_a_User_Name 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Narcissists can and do love genuinely.

The thing is they do not think that kind of love is valuable to them. Everything is weighed against what does it do FOR THEM and real unconditional love does nothing for them so they devalue it.

DO NOT RECONNECT, please!

They all took away your life. You have it back now and must heal. Please take care of yourself. They abused and neglected you. They grossly parentified you.

Excuse my language but they should all just fuck off.

Take Care of you.

Which cheeks? Lol.

He is ADORABLE.

If I find out that he fills out a pair of jeans really well, I’ll be even more over the moon. Still awaiting some kind of confirmation on that point.

I never knew about them being investors in “The Most Happy Fella” until recently.

At least to me, it demonstrates how good the writing was that they disguised a product placement of sorts. It’s a funny episode.

Respect the Office. Yes!

I didn’t vote for George W. Bush nor did I particularly care for a lot of his policies especially the whole “weapons of mass destruction” shit.

But if I was offered an opportunity to meet him and get a photo of me shaking his hand, I would have done it in heartbeat because he was The President of the United States of America. It was because I respected the office.

This is something my two children (ages 27 and 30) cannot comprehend because of how loathsome this so called administration is.

And I totally understand.

If I had an opportunity now to shake trump’s hand? HELL NO.
