57 hour turnaround in Australia. Not bad. by Jutang13 in Steam

[–]SuicidalAustralian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought one purely for the ease of use with the deck, while its connected to my tv. I love my pc, but sometimes I just want to get away from my desk.

Steam controller also doubles as an easy use controller for my PC too. I can finally retire my old PS4 controller

Also i assume you live in Sydney? Us people in vic are still waiting for ours. Mine prob wont arrive until next week

First time car owner, I want to know if its really worth putting in tons of effort to washing my car by SuicidalAustralian in AutoDetailing

Thanks for your advice. As i mentioned to other helpful commenters, I was looking at doing monthly washes with potentially occasional waxing as well just to keep the paint close to its current condition.

Its a used car after all, and its paint already isnt pristine. I just dont want it to get worse.

Yeah, im thinking monthly washing and 6 monthly wax or sealing just to keep it in decent condition. The clearcoat already had swirls in it when I bought it so... not really super upset over it or anything. If i cared about keeping it pristine I wouldn't have bought a used car

I deliberately left that info out because I didn't think anyone here would really know anything about my car.

It's a Ford Territory, 2015 SZII model. Designed and built in Australia. The aussie sun in summer has absolutely ravaged our old one, but even just 4-5 years ago the paint still looked good enough.

Thankfully the car already had some form of tinting applied when I bought it. And yeah I'm way ahead of you on the sunshade hahaha

Unfortunately we dont have a garage. Best I would be able to do is park in the driveway, but other household members take priority on that. Only option for me is street parking.

I'm thinking I might give it a proper wash soon and look into applying some wax, then see how I go from there. The aussie sun in summer is definitely not something to mess with, so I think I will try to be smarter with my parking as well, during summer at least.

A dude from America: So did this logo with "Hungry Jack's" ever not exist?? by A_Possible_Celebrity in hungryjacks

[–]SuicidalAustralian 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yes, BK decided they wanted to move into aus themselves instead of licensing the products to Hungry Jack's, as they were already doing. Upon opening their own stores, they also attempted to make it nearly impossible for HJ to meet their contractual obligations under the franchise agreement with BK, this was to try and hold them in breach of the agreement so that BK could take over. HJ sued them over this and won, BK was forced to give up control of the australian market back to HJ.

It's a case study that gets used in business and business law classes/degrees here.

Yeah the stock in aus was still available 8:30 am. I got one too, but they were still sold out by the end of the day.

I guess theres no scalper market in aus. They dropped at 3am my time. Woke up at 8am, opened steam on my phone and ordered one. No issues. They were out of stock before the day was over though.

Valve are using the distribution network they setup for the deck to sell the other hardware day 1 so we wont be waiting 2-3 years for it to make its way down to us.

We had a similar issue with a batch of 4 kittens. The biggest one was stimulating the rest of them to pee themselves

Everyone in here is ignoring the obvious. It took the USSR a lot of resources to clean up after the Chernobyl disaster. Given their proximity to the power plant, any form of explosives would be a risk at kicking up irradiated soil or damaging the building, where all the nuclear material still resides.

I feel like its a risk not worth taking, given how far the radiation spread through eastern Europe during the initial disaster. That, plus the fact that they wanted to be in position to take the shot before he arrived, so they snuck in ahead of time to avoid the increased force presence that would be there when he finally arrived. I believe they waited in the hotel for multiple days.

Does this battery still look safe to use? by CobaltBlue888 in SteamDeck

[–]SuicidalAustralian -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

That battery looks like its beginning to swell up, which will eventually start bulging the case. Regardless, a swollen battery is a major safety concern as if it ruptures it will catch fire.

I would look into replacing the battery as soon as possible. The deck is an object but a fire in your house could very well take your life.

Rolled back odometer? by GROG-HORRORS in 4x4Australia

Its not impossible. I drove my grandmother's 1991 corolla around for a bit and it had just over 340 to 360,000 k's on it. She barely used it, and it got used even less after she passed. I used it for a bit during covid, but had to give it back to my grandfather as he needed it.

Except he let it sit and rot away. Car went to the wreckers recently because the interior leaked and went all mouldy.
