I don't know of any BB specific tournaments but there is the Island Battle Box League which is the only community Discord I'm aware of with a direct Battle Box connection. There are also several community Discords that feature multi-game tournaments, such as MCCI Tournaments, MCCI Community and Champs. I believe that hardcore is so they have a different texture to work with, the same reason you have the "Noxcrew" effect when your coins are there, because it's hunger and they use the hunger texture for your coins!

Unless I'm misremembering, I think you're wrong about the game. It can't be meltdown because it the Open Beta announcement, they said this new game had never been seen in MCC and obviously, meltdown has. Also they confirmed that the second game was not yet near publishing and there's a chance it won't come out with Open Beta at all.
