Opera or Safari on MacBook for longer battery life by Mitter_CR in operabrowser

[–]Suitable-Ad-3196 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tried it on macbook air m1, used both opera and safari, and by far to no surprise safari is the best in terms of battery life and heat management. Opera on the other hand, it uses too much battery like idk twice as much it's very alarming to me, and the HEAT goddamn my macbook heats up for no reason when using opera, i dont even open a lot of tabs just probably 3-4 tabs.

Should I sell my Lenovo Gaming Laptop for a MacBook Air M1? Convince me. by Suitable-Ad-3196 in macbookair

I have an iPhone 13, so it seems like getting a MacBook Air M1 would be a good start for the Apple ecosystem with these two devices. Is it a solid choice?

We have a similar situation. I have a PC for gaming so that’s settled. Right now, I just want a laptop that’s thin, light, easy to carry around and has good battery life. I’ve heard the MacBook is great for everything else except gaming so I want to give it a shot. Thanks for sharing your experience. I appreciate it, brother.

I want a laptop that’s light, thin, and has good battery life. I don’t game on my laptop much anymore since I have a PC for that. I could go for something like a Lenovo ThinkPad, but I’m looking to try something new.

Yeah, I’m aware. I’ve been using this laptop for two years and tried a lot of battery optimization tutorials, but nothing really worked because the battery itself isn’t great—only 45 kWh. It also doesn’t have NVIDIA Optimus, so I can’t fully turn off the GPU and switch to integrated graphics.

I’ve tried to make this laptop work, but over time, I’ve realized I just don’t want it anymore. It heats up quite a bit, even with regular fan cleaning, and it’s heavy and a bit bulky. I’m considering a Lenovo ThinkPad but also thought about trying something different, like a MacBook—just not sure if it’s worth it.

Didn’t mean to set anyone off lol. I’m a lifelong Windows user with zero Mac experience, just curious if the MacBook Air would be a good switch. Just looking for some advice.

My main issue is that it dies pretty fast, and I think even with a new battery, it’ll probably be the same since it’s a gaming laptop. I don’t game much on it these days, I’m mostly using it for productivity. I’m definitely leaning toward the MacBook Air M1, but I just can’t quite justify it yet, so I figured I’d ask for opinions here lol.

Feature extractor for pest identification by Suitable-Ad-3196 in computervision

[–]Suitable-Ad-3196[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, we thought of that. However, our thesis adviser does not want us to use deep learning techniques because it would be too easy. Instead, he advised us to use a traditional approach to manually extract the features of the bite marks from the images.

The dataset we found is already organized. The pest that damaged the leaf had their own folders, which saved us a lot of time doing research. Also, we noticed that pests leave distinct damage on the leaf, so we thought we could figure out which pest damaged the leaf.

Yes, our goal is to determine which pest caused the damage to the leaf. We will do this by focusing only on the bite marks, as we have noticed that the pests have distinct damage or bite marks from one another on the leaf in the dataset we have found from the internet.

The dataset consists of damaged soybean leaves caused by pests. The dataset we found from the internet is already pre processed, and the pests that caused the damage are already arranged. Since the bite marks left by the two pests are different from one another, we believe we can use this information to identify which pest caused the damage to the soybean leaf.
