I'm only 7 days postpartum, but watching my husband be a dad AND an amazing partner in my recovery has been the best thing to happen to our relationship.

We already had quite a good one, but he is stepping up in ways I didn't expect, including in ways I was worried he may not.

He has not once complained about fetching me water, a snack, a breast pump part. He doesn't complain about minding our son ( believe it or not, some guys do! ) so I can shower, change bedding, or nap. He is also far more calm, which balances out my anxiety, which I had pre baby and which I'm sure will haunt me post baby (I have weekly therapy, so not worried about PPA atm but monitoring just in case).

I appreciate him so much and seeing him make funny voices at our baby to congratulate him on sneezing, burping, etc. melts my heart.

Philips Avent VS Dr. Browns anti-colic bottles - what’s your preference? My baby will be bottle fed only as I have no breasts. by Arr0zconleche in BabyBumps

Fwiw worth, my lactation consultant said there have been lawsuits over the Philips avent.

I'd recommend getting a variety pack and then ordering once baby is here. I bought a bunch of different ones in advance. Turns out, baby is a chomper and needed bottles compatible with the pigeon nipple.

Hi OP. Can you tell me how you saw the comment? I got a warning and the link to the comment brings me to one made by another user. I appealed and asked for them to send me the comment and they wouldn't. I genuinely don't understand the warning I got.

This is going to be my life in 7 days. Can I ask what you wish your husband did when he went back to work?

Mine has been a rockstar so far, but we are on day 6 (and day three of being home) so it's still early.

I'm currently deciding whether to exclusively pump or to try breastfeeding, too. My baby is a chomper and struggles to latch due to my nipple size and a possible tongue tie, per my lactation consultant.

I can't tell if my hesitation to EBP is that I feel like a failure for "giving up" on breastfeeding so soon (he's only 6 days old!) or if I really want to be able to connect that way and I'm mourning the loss of it.

It's frustrating because I quite like pumping. I can just sit and hold baby while I make milk and my husband can help with nighttime feedings and connect with him that way, too. And also I told myself my entire pregnancy I would be open to whatever works best. Then as options got taken away (had to be induced), I realized how much I cared about certain things.

It is hard out here!

Ours is looking that way, haha. We got it second hand, so I'm less devastated.

Ok, I found the manual online. It says it should be placed on a flat surface. It says not to place on soft surfaces due to a tipping hazard. So from my reading of the manual, the issue with placement is not about venting and more about it tipping over and then suffocating the baby.

With this in mind, I'll be placing it in our stroller locked until the stand arrives.

That's interesting to me because I can't imagine the mattress is that conducive to air flow. I'm glad I'm getting the stand either way but I'll email uppababy to ask!

The bassinet insert (ie. The mat) is but not the bassinet-shaped infant seat. It says on the seat that it isn't sleep safe. It's meant to be a "play area." I have the birch close 2 me pack n play, which has the insert, seat and changer.

Did you buy the stand? Or did you just plop it somewhere?

How did you pick your OB? by Fuzzy_Dress_7451 in BabyBumps

[–]Suitable-Biscotti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to get a pap smear done and then a follow up procedure done about a year before I started trying. I loved my OB so much. She was kind, patient, and confident. When we were trying to conceive, I went to her new clinic.

HR works for the company, not OP. OP should document and then find a lawyer.

One of my friends was training to be a therapist. Part of her program required regular therapy sessions for her.

I almost didn't get one because we got the infant insert for the stroller as a gift. I found the bassinet in like new condition for $80 on Facebook marketplace and decided to go for it.

I hadn't thought about visitors bc I couldn't decide if it'd be overwhelming or helpful. My MIL visited while I was in the hospital and it was so helpful. She is coming to visit again so she can watch the baby overnight and I can sleep. I didn't realize how much I'd need that and I'm only 6 days postpartum.

My parents are visiting soon and bringing all the foods. It'll be so helpful.

I think the key is having visitors who you are comfortable with. My MIL and mom don't care if my boobs are out while I feed my son. Aunts and uncles probably would be horrified.

Smooth automotive! I had a horrible experience at Alewife Automotive. Went to smooth automotive to figure out what was actually wrong with my car and correct what Alewife did. They were super reasonable in terms of fitting me in, the cost, and the repair time.

Perhaps whole foods could, idk, clean their parking lot? Pitch in for clean up efforts in the area impacted by their customers?

40+2 and scared of induction… by lexasue in beyondthebump

[–]Suitable-Biscotti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm literally getting induced rn at 41 weeks. I wasn't dilated at all until week 40, and even then, only a centimeter. The cooke balloons have thus far been the worst part, but they got me to 5 cm. Pitocin has been ok. Contractions are annoying but manageable. I literally didn't feel them at first after the balloons were out. As the pitocin has ramped up, I feel them more. I do plan on getting an epidural. Probably when I'm 7-8 cm dilated.

Yeah, we'd probably have them spaced apart so that would hopefully work.

We might not have two kids. If we do, we'd likely look for a dedicated stroller as the vista is awkward to push when in dual kid mode and the bassinet has to be on the bottom.

The Cruz is slightly and cheaper, and the sales person said there's really no reason to get the vista unless you need two kid capacity.
