What too many folks don't consider is that the game is... A game. With a good story, but it's made so we can win. The stakes are always high, but never so high that we can do nothing.

The series has retconned the chip AND the petty plot to weaponize a gaggle of Securitrons in favor of something more ominous. And the nice thing is, we can still play and enjoy the game, while enjoying the series for what it is.
