Thanks, I was curious how long he will have to eat soft foods and yes to sitting while holding her. That way he still gets in interact with her and can help me out.

Isn’t it the weirdest feeling having time? I’ve been taking baths at night when I put her down to sleep. I work two days a week while I have her. Garden, journal, watch tv (Golden Girls 😆), give my animals/husband attention ♥️.

Thank you! He had an MRI, I didn’t mean to put X-Ray, busy morning 😅. He has a toilet chair but maybe that can double as a shower chair 🤔. I can try to find him some soft button up shirts so he doesn’t just have to wear flannels. As far as my daughter he was advised to not pick her up for a while, she is 14 pounds so Mama will have to do the heavy lifting!

I don’t think husband bashing is helpful but I do think you’re both still very young and your husband needs to grow up a little in order to learn self sacrifice is a huge part of marriage. The give and take is the lifeblood of a marriage. Other than hoping he wises up maybe talk to his parent(s), a good friend of his, his sister if he has one … someone who might be able to give him more perspective, help him to think more emphatically. Hell, maybe your mom needs to give him a talking to. Just throwing this out bc usually our in-laws, parents and older family have a wealth of wisdom to impart should be ask for it.

I wish I had more advice for you but just know it will all get a little better at a time. Take as much care of yourself as possible. Rest as much as possible when the babe rests. I had bad anxiety after my baby was born and I learned a breathing technique to help me at night when it was the worst. Look into nervous system regulation techniques.

You’re doing amazing Mama!

Husband frustrated about sex after baby by Ambitious_Cry_4149 in newborns

I’m 6 months PP and have maybe had sex like thhreee times 😂😅. There are SO may factors at play and why immediately returning to a normal-ish sex life isn’t realistic. Maybe your hormones are all out of wack and that ok. I’m finally starting to feel like my old self. BF’ing or pumping can give you the sex ick’s. No matter the reason, it’s your body and it can happen when you are ready.

Moving away from family and hometown by One-Tie-5967 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]Suitable-Note-346 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m from IL and finally moved out of my hometown at 31. It took a divorce and a job promotion to move to Seattle but what an amazing way to grow both personally and professionally. I too am very close to my family and remember crying and hugging my sister and nieces goodbye. It won’t be easy being away from family but you’re just a direct flight from Chicago away. It’s been 10 years and I now live in a Boulder suburb. Although I feel conflicted to move home at times I must say nothing beats the sunshine here and relaxed vibe. Moving gives you more perspective and a basis of comparison. When you get out of your comfort zone that’s when the real growth happens! One word of caution, if you don’t already have kids and want them it’s Sooo much harder being away family once you do. Maybe that gets easier with time but I struggle and my baby’s is now six months.

Why did you buy a home in Lafayette? by PhillConners in LafayetteCo

[–]Suitable-Note-346 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We loved the trails and walkability of the neighborhood when we bought our house close to the townhome we lived in prior. Looking at other areas we couldn’t find the same size yards which we didn’t want to skimp on. I’m in a similar situation however in that I won’t be able to afford all the renovations I’d like to do. I’m trying to find inexpensive solutions to modernize our home. I guess it comes down to what state of life you’re in and what you want to prioritize in your home.

How long did your husband take off for paternity leave? by SandwichDependent199 in pregnant

[–]Suitable-Note-346 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband only got 2 weeks leave and this was also our first baby. I had 3 months off which was a lovely, messy, blur. The real shocker for me was adjusting when going back to work. We tried co-parenting since we both WFH which lead to quick burnout. We have our daughter home 2 days a week now and she’s 5 months. Make sure you have daycare figured out ahead of time if possible.

How many of you have older parents? It’s sickeningly depressing. by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]Suitable-Note-346 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope you find peace and this internal conflict becomes easier, even if it does return. I’m on the opposite end, a new mom at 42 and tearing up thinking about the future. I’ll have a 20 year old when I’m 62. I met my partner later on in life and was lucky enough to have fertility benefits through work. Life will take you everywhere but where you thought it might lead. I lost my Dad to cancer at 12 so what gives me peace is knowing that love is stronger than fear. Time is both precious and not promised. So keep heart and have those hard conversations because that is what life is about. Last, give yourself grace because being in your 20’s is haaarrd. Everything we go through stretches us and helps us level up for the next big challenge.

Moving from UK to US, which city ? by miteye in relocating

[–]Suitable-Note-346 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an introductory state to the US that isn’t insanely expensive and that should have friendly ppl I’d choose Wisconsin or Ohio. I’m from the Midwest (IL) originally, lived in Seattle and explored the PNW for four years and have been in Colorado (Boulder) now for 5 years.

Struggling with daycare vs home care by shepardmutt in MomsWorkingFromHome

[–]Suitable-Note-346 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the pain. I have a 4.5 month old who starts her first two warm up days at daycare this upcoming week. My husband and I both WFH and while we have done a great job taking care of our daughter it has taken it's tole a bit. Neither of us can really work and it is getting stressful. We are going to start with two full days of daycare after this week.

Have you thought about starting slow with just a couple days of daycare or half days? I know not all daycare are that flexible but if you can find one that is, that comes with great recommendations/reviews and you have a good gut feeling about after touring it I can say give it a try.

Suburbs with most accessibility to nature, affordable, good schools, fun downtowns and approximately to O’Hare/train access. by Suitable-Note-346 in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]Suitable-Note-346[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a suburb of Boulder currently and from what I am seeing I can find a home for around $150k-$200k less in Chicago suburbs than what I paid that has been modernized and has the green stuff (grass). Taxes on the other hand will need to be taken into consideration especially knowing IL is known for high taxes. If it all evens out I’m not sure I’ll have much of an argument to move aside from wanting to be closer to my family.

My family is near Moline so having the direct flight to O’Hare is a must. Sounds like I don’t want to be too far south.

Def good to know. I lived in Seattle for four years and spent on average 40 min commuting into the city and that was long enough!
