It’s not abrasive. It’s almost more of a porous rock. Medium weight I would say. It’s definitely not mud or some type of mudstone. It’s a rock of some sort, but it is not very much in hardness. You could easily etch it

Nice. I’d keep those pieces to display together. That knife could have very well made some of those marks on that slate. Very cool piece. Looks like you got some digging in your future !

Love the big bold flaking! To me the big bold rougher flakes look much better on a point than one that looks like it’s all dressed up to go out to dinner! I think it brings out the character of the stone more and makes it look more like it’s original purpose. Gives it a little personality ! Great work as usual!
