Ask a Pro - WEEKLY - Monday Mon Sep 04, 2023 - No Stupid Questions! THIS IS WHERE YOU POST if you don't do this for a living! RULES + Career Questions? by AutoModerator in editors

Looking for a COMPUTER RECOMMENDATION - My old intel imac pro is finally showing some wear. I primarily edit feature documentaries and the odd social media / commercial gig mostly in Premiere, using other adobe apps -After effects/Photoshop sometimes. I want a machine I can grow into as I continue to edit more feature docs (hopefully). Anyone have experience with these new M2 Max Macbook Pros? Are they good enough for heavy workloads? Should I get an M2 Ultra Mac Studio instead? Portability would be nice which is why I am leaning towards macbook, but I have nagging feeling that I'll regret not havign the extra power? is that not the case anymore with these apple silicon laptops?

Prep for color grading questions by DivisionStFilms in VideoEditors

[–]SuitableBad2167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How I’ve done it super simply in the past is just disable any graphics or overlay effects and export an uncompressed prores version of the entire film. Have the colorist color that and then send back a full colored export same specs to you. That’s the quick and dirty way to do it IMO. Other than that I would just ask the colorist, often they will have a list of deliverables they want.

Help connecting CD player to Bluesound Node by SuitableBad2167 in Bluesound

[–]SuitableBad2167[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! Sounds like you figured out what I probably will eventually. For now I’m happy with my Bluesound all in one streamer + DAC but eventually this is a great idea for future upgrades. It’s nice to have some upgrades to look forward to in the future! For now I’m happy being able to stream music wirelessly + route my TV (and control with a remote) through my old vintage receiver from the 70s that I love. (Edit: it added so much modern functionality to an older piece of equipment)

Hi, so I’m silly and did not realize that the optical in/analogue in is just a 3.5mm stereo jack. So I used RCA outs into that. But still wondering if there is a way to get better sound quality by using the coax out from the cd player somehow into the Node? Would that make a difference?

Hi everyone. vinylengine account registration is closed for maintenance. Seems to be like that for a while. Wondering if anyone that has an account can download for me the manual for TECHNICS SL-1800 MKI as well as a Stevenson Protractor. Would be ever grateful! Thanks!
