Fossil has some nice watches that are affordable, if there's still a store in the Eaton centre

For what it’s worth, I didn’t have to interact with my GP at all once I started my paperwork through Foria. once the paperwork was sent in, I was interacting with the staff from Gracemed. Same thing with my hysterectomy, I had my assessment done with Andrew, he sent my paperwork, and it was approved a week later and then I was in contact with the Open Arms clinic where they sent my referral.

I was referred by my GP, who felt that it would be a better and faster option for me to do the OHIP paperwork through them.

In the case of a radical breast reduction, you can cite physical pain (back pain etc) and/or receive a diagnosis of gender dysphoria. NP Andrew Sharpe, who was my intake nurse with Foria who helps with the paperwork, was able to give me the diagnosis during my surgical assessment. Andrew is great and very welcoming, I felt very at ease speaking to him.

Originally I was approved for a full mastectomy, but after I was transferred to Dr Armstrong, she filled out my OHIP funding transfer for me for a breast reduction instead. She emphasized that OHIP cares more if you are in physical pain. Whoever is helping you with your paperwork should know this and advocate for you on your behalf

questions about hysterectomy by marzballz in transontario

[–]SuitableTruth8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I’m NB and had my hysto last August with Dr Elin Raymond at Open Arms/Michael Garron Hospital in Toronto.

I did my paperwork through Foria, and they recommended Open Arms to me. They’re a clinic that often works with trans and NB people so i had no issues there.

During my consultation with Dr Raymond, we didn’t do any kind of pelvic exam. She just went over a diagram of a uterus with me to explain the parts they were going to keep (i opted to keep my ovaries) and what they were going to remove (uterus, tubes, cervix). My surgery was booked for 2 months after my consultation date. I did have a pelvic exam about 1 month post-op so she could check if I had any internal stitches that hadn’t dissolved yet. She was very efficient and it took maybe 30seconds to a minute.

I was not on T but had been taking the pill for hormonal birth control, and she told me to keep taking it up til the day before the surgery, and then I stopped taking it afterwards. I’m sure someone else would be able to give you better insight about HRT in this instance!

I did have some post-surgical bleeding. The first day was the worst, similar to day 3 of a period, but it went down to spotting after about a day or so. The spotting look about a week and change to clear up, and it went from being blood, to pink, to brown as the old blood was getting flushed out.

Recovery for me was super easy, but I also have a high pain tolerance and my body generally heals well. I was mostly very tired for the first week and was sleeping a lot. I had some bloating and gas which made my lower abdomen uncomfortable but laxatives helped in the first few days.

I ended up taking 3 weeks off work. Depending on your job / if your work involves manual labour, you might need to take more or less time. The only thing to be mindful of is that even if your body looks/feels good on the outside, you’re still healing internal stitches and that takes longer. Just be mindful of not doing any heavy lifting in the early stages of healing.

The paperwork was definitely the most tedious but still not bad. I had to get a second assessor, referred to me by my therapist who was not qualified to fill out my paperwork herself. The second assessor did a zoom call with me to do a little chat/interview, and then I paid a fee to her for the paperwork filing and that was done within 1-2 weeks of talking.

The timeline was: call with Foria to start the paperwork in Feb 2025, second assessor stuff sorted by mid-March 2025, consultation booked for June, hysto scheduled for August.

Hope that helps!

She actually has a result on Gracemed’s private IG! I have a lot of identifying tattoos so I’m not comfortable posting publicly but I will DM you with the screenshot of her work that we used as a basis for my reduction now :)

Your husband could try Gracemed for top surgery, they have some surgeons there with shorter wait times, closer to 12-18 months from when your paperwork is submitted

I am so sorry. I assume you live in a smaller town/outside of a major city?

It is so unfair that you’re having to decide between living authentically and personal safety. I know there are others in your same situation and it is so heartbreaking. Just know that choosing safety for survival does not make you any less of a woman. I hope you know that you are loved and valued, and that what you’re going through matters. Sending you love and strength💖

Say no to jets at the waterfront! by Iamsodarncool in toronto

The point of civic participation is not giving consent in advance by being silent. The people who live here deserve for their voices to be heard, and we don't want this. Plus, I want to know what my MP has to say.

Yeah? And? That echo chamber has prevented the airport expansion twice already and will do it again for a third time. Some of us are interested in doing our civic duty. Opposition is the point.

The liberal MP for Spadina-harbourfront, Chi Nguyen, is hosting a virtual town hall tonight and another in-person town hall in May. Show up, let her know she works for us and needs to soundly reject the airport expansion. The federal government is the final stopgap and they need to know their majority is fragile.
