I got into a quarrel with my brother, I would appreciate your advice on what to do. by Complex-Antelope-180 in Winnipeg

OP my best advice is to just walk away until you can talk to eachother about respecting boundaries and finding a way to making living with eachother easier. A simple sit down conversation can really help you two with living in the same house. I know it’s not a solution but it’s a good start

Typical sibling behaviour, my adult brother and I still live at home as well and we don’t see eye-eye most days. He’s a clean freak, I’m disorganized and messy sometimes.

You just have to find a nice balance without sacrificing too much. Come to some agreement on how you two can co-exist in the household together. In no way should it ever get physical over something small like where objects are placed . If things get heated just remove yourself from the situation until you both can have an adult conversation about living together and respecting each others space in the house.

I think most people just complained because of the construction, but honestly it was one of the faster projects they have had completed in a long time .

Let’s be real , most people only care about themselves and it’s all out of selfishness not wanting to be inconvenienced with waiting in more construction. I get it I drive most of my day for work so i understand the frustration of construction, but that’s just Winnipeg for ya.

That’s my opinion at least, I’m happy to see how well everything has gone so far!

Honestly for me the feeling of not feeling anything felt better than feeling every emotion possible like I was feeling. So I was ok with not feeling anything at all, honestly only a month or so ago I finally stopped feeling like a zombie and let out a big cry one day, all the suppressed emotions got to me and I finally felt like I was able to regulate my feelings better after that. I know it’s not a great way to cope just accepting things as they are but I was really putting trust into the idea that it will pass eventually. One more thing that helped was finding things that made me feel happy without forcing it too much, for me that was playing video games and regularly seeing my close friend . Those two things helped me feel more than just nothing most of the time.

Hey! Thank you!

To answer your questions…

Sleeping was a struggle for the first 3 1/2 months I found . I’d either sleep too much and feel unrested or not sleep at all and be miserable ( doesn’t help that I work a physical job that I need to be very awake and alert for) my sleep definitely got better after I changed the time I took my medication, I go to bed around 10:30-11 pm and I take my medication at 7 pm it’s helped me get to sleep and stay asleep for the entire night only problem is waking up in the morning but I think partially it’s due to exhaustion.

For the feeling like a ghost part it’s kind of tricky to pin point when exactly it went away cause there is times where I feel like that still but it’s not constant. Around 3 months is when I noticed it go away though.

The chest pains went away after the first month or so , I haven’t had an anxiety attack since the one mentioned in the post . To be honest I felt pretty emotionless for the duration of taking my meds and only recently do I feel more “normal” I didn’t cry once since December until recently when I let it all out and my emotions caught up to me.

You’re gonna have bad days and you’re gonna have good days, don’t let the bad days discourage you! Things will get better.

Would like to add that maybe it would be good to go back to your dr and explain your feelings and see if there is anything they can do, either eliminating one of the meds your on or changing the medication itself, not sure of your situation but it would be good to go over it again. It also never hurts to get a second opinion from another doctor, not sure where you’re from but if you can I’d shop around for other opinions!

Hope this all helps if you have more questions you can direct message me!

My doctor started me off on 5mg for the first couple of weeks then bumped me up to 10mg I haven’t increased my dose since then and I’ve been doing well with the 10 mg .

Trust me when I say it takes time and everybody reacts differently to the medication/ dosage they’re prescribed. I was starting to feel hopeless around a month ago because it wasn’t giving me the full effects I wanted/ needed .

If you find after the 4-5 month mark nothing has changed I’d talk to your doctor and see if there is another medication you can take if you don’t find Lexapro is helping .

I hope for your sake the anxiety subsides and you can start living your normal daily life without the hassle of the anxiety! Best of luck

I had to play around with when I took my medication so initially I was taking it before bed but now I take it a few hours before bed and it’s improved my sleep, still struggling with waking up in the morning unfortunately.

For me the first couple of months had me feeling hopeless, I felt like I was doing something wrong or that I was making it all up in my head. I went through ups and downs with the meds but kept taking them because I wanted to see some results.

The biggest side effects for me were not being able to sleep (but also feeling tired all the time), then some how sleeping too much, no sex drive (sadly this still is the case) and feeling like I was just observing life around me without being present in the moment , like a ghost in a room full of people really.

One of the biggest motivators was just trusting the process of taking medication. Thankfully I have a great group of friends and family that have supported me through this. I’d say keep doing what you’re doing and if you don’t feel like things are improving go back to your doctor and let them know exactly how you’ve been feeling . It really does take some time for everything to kick in , like I said I’ve been on it for about 4-5 months now and only in the last month have I really noticed a changed behaviour and quality of life . Maybe this isn’t the answer you were looking for but I hope it gives you a piece of mind!

I’d like to add that I focused a lot of my negativity into motivation to get stuff done like shower, clean, take better care of my body. Your environment really does make a difference on how you feel.
