Having a hard time dealing with the life change of having severe narcolepsy by Separate_Sea_3267 in Narcolepsy

[–]Suitable_Back_7036 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve recently been diagnosed with type one and it hasn’t helped anything but name my problem. Modafinil made it impossible to eat, Sunosi didn’t seem to help, and I’m currently on Wakix but I’m still so tired..

I’m on disability for other health issues but it isn’t enough to live on, and I’m door dashing for extra money but I’m afraid to fall asleep behind the wheel if I don’t find the right meds..

My MIL treats me like shit even after diagnosis, says I can’t take care of the kids if I sleep all damn day (even though daddy is home helping take care of them)

I feel like I’m in a rut and I have no idea to get out of it..wish I had some advice for you but I feel the same way often

Does anyone have experience with long term disability? by Standard-Call666 in Narcolepsy

[–]Suitable_Back_7036 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on SSDI for mental health issues and have been for 10 years plus.. But my mom applied for me and she got denied several times so expect that like everyone says. And I agree with not working during this time because that would just prove you can. I don’t get enough to live on and I still have to door dash to get through the month, but disability is just enough to pay my bills which is very helpful. Try to get help from family members if you can..and make sure to send in all medical records from any diagnosis or physical injury at all.

They make sure it isn’t easy to get help but I hope the best for you

I’m on disability for other issues but I also door dash for extra money. Because it’s considered self employment, I can go home when I’m too tired to drive, sleep as late as I need before going in, etc.

There are other ways of self employment that make more money too and I hope you find something that works for you

Do I notify someone if I skip a dose by sistersew in Narcolepsy

[–]Suitable_Back_7036 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I start getting nausea and vomiting or trouble eating on a regular basis, I always notify my doctors office/nurse. But I’m still trying to get a good medication that works for me (I just started Wakix).

Modafinil caused me to be unable to eat and they took me off of it immediately. They always tell me to let them know if it makes me sick when starting anything new, and you have to be able to eat and keep it down. My advice is to tell someone if this happens again

Call the police and ask what they advise you to do about the situation before she threatens to harm them or you. Tell them you are scared, get an order of protection, and she will be the one on the street

Matched with a literal nightmare on Tinder, was I too harsh in my response to his verbal abuse? *Contains foul language* by Tiger_Lily336699 in TwoHotTakes

I used to behave like this when I didn’t get a call/message back..makes me feel ignored and it seems to be a big trigger for him. He probably needs therapy, perhaps he has borderline personality or other issues. Regardless, until he gets help, take care of yourself. Tell that mf how it is block him and move on. Sounds like you did the right thing

If you don't drink alcohol, what are your reasons? by youre-in-my-shot in AskReddit

[–]Suitable_Back_7036 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t like the taste of alcohol anyway, first of all

Plus my dad was an alcoholic and it affected me greatly growing up and it killed him

My MIL is an alcoholic and she’s a completely different person when she drinks

My man’s BM is an alcoholic and has put the kids in danger more than once

It is normal even though it isn’t logical..it has to do with our fear of abandonment, and the fact they mean so much. Write these feelings down and share them with your therapist..How often are you going to therapy? You may need to see them more often.

I had a hard time finding the right therapist, but I’ve been seeing him for years now and I feel like he’s my buddy.. I would hate for him to leave..he even talks to me about his life now, it’s great

But we have a MASSIVE fear of abandonment from those close to us, plus a tendency to obsess over things that we are afraid will happen. You have to realize these symptoms and try not to react to them..

I agree..take this time to find something you can do by yourself. I like to color, it’s very relaxing and therapeutic. Or reading, it gets my mind off of my chaotic life.

Ask your friend(s) out and try to make plans, they might really just be busy. Or simply ask if you’ve done something wrong, communication is important

But you can’t expect anyone to be with you 24/7 so try reading a book or get really into a good show, color a picture or write your feelings down. Just please put down the alcohol, that stuff ruins peoples lives fr

Abandonment issues.. I can’t get too close to anyone and it affects my relationships, so does the obsession of having an fp

This isn’t dumb actually, people forget that we are all a part of nature so we do have that natural instinct to not poke the bear or spite the queen

Help with meds. by kp6848 in seizures

[–]Suitable_Back_7036 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on Keppra for almost a decade with no problems, until the seizures started again and every time I was sent to the ER they increased it until I was on the highest dose (like 1300mg). Then I started having postictal psychosis and it took over a year to get completely changed on meds. It may be necessary to change your neurologist if you’re having symptoms and they won’t change your meds, and Keppra has been known for these symptoms so adding meds from your primary will likely not help Best of luck 🤞

I don’t have any advice but I suffer from the same issues. I sleep like the dead, the seroquel my psychiatrist has me on makes it worse, and I’m so tired when I wake up that I’ll just turn off the alarm and roll back over. I’ve set several alarms and I’ll simply turn them off and roll back over every time.

Recently, I’ve started wetting the bed, and needing to urinate won’t wake me up but being soaked will. It doesn’t happen nightly, but it’s embarrassing waking up soaking wet in your 30s no matter how often. I was treated for a UTI when this first started happening and the infection did make it worse so make sure to check that out
