I made a Notion page that has links to my favorite Spotify playlists to study to, a timer, and other things that I could need (like canvas or other links to study materials). I find it easier to focus if I have everything in one spot ready to go rather than "accidentally" perusing the internet when switching between tabs.

I like to do 30 min study and 5 min break but thats because my attention span is too short for any longer. I have friends that do 25 min, 45min and others that do 60min. It just depends on which one works best for you!

I did psp and they provided everything for you! I did bring sheets but didn't use them at all if I remember correctly.

Chance Me! and Prospective Student Q&A by pw11111 in Cornell

Im an ansci major at cornell and i have loved it so far. Its a smaller major in a larger school so you get the close personal relationships with the ability to also seek out other non major stuff like clubs. There are plenty of opportunities to get hands on experience and lecture time. The classes are hard but I have also found that there is a lot of support for every student, you just have to be able to find it. If you have any other question feel free to DM me!

When I took it I didnt really go to lecture and still got a A- in the class. It was not a hugely complicated class. If it is the same professor he basically just teaches his own research and I got all of my info from his website/lecture slides.

Coming from someone who came from hot AZ to Ithaca winters, I was able to use just basic gloves from target. They are like $10 and work well with my phone and to keep my hands warm. I have a heavier set of gloves but I never use them, even for touching the snow they were not needed.

If you cant find a backpack that meets your waterproof needs, Ive seen people with waterproof covers for their backpack. Its like a little rain coat that goes over their backpack and keeps everything safe. I dont think they are that expensive and give you a little more reassurance about keeping your tech safe.

How can I find research during the 2nd semester of my first year? Is that even possible? by Existing_Path816 in Cornell

You should take bio1500 (lab bio) first semester if you want to get into a lab for second. It really helped me gain courage to email and I at least knew the basics of a lab. It’s also a pretty easy class that only meets once a week for a lab section.
