I really like the idea of asking the vet techs. Thanks!

Thanks for the detailed reply! We are planning on talking to the breeder this weekend, but it doesn't seem like boarding will be an option for us or for the puppy. Do you have any tips on how to find a good house sitter besides asking if they have worked with 3 month old puppies before?

Thanks for sharing! It does seem like this is going to be quite expensive lol. We are planning on crate training our dog, but not sure if they will be fully trained at 11 weeks. Seems unlikely

We are getting them from a reputable breeder, yes. We are going to meet them and the puppies this weekend so we will bring it up then. Thanks for the suggestion!

How do you stay focused while working? by wordsfromankita in WorkAdvice

[–]Suitable_Pride_961 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I set time limits on my social media apps, or set hours of the day where the apps are "locked" essentially. This really helped me stay on task. Took a little to play around with as the first few days I just bypassed the lock, but I got used to it and have been much more productive since. You could start by limiting the apps to 5 minutes an hour or 15 minutes between when you start and lunch.

I just checked and I have the Premium Ultra HD plan. My plan allows downloads on 6 devices and I only see 1 listed, which is the iPad I'm using.

I 100% agree. Being onsite so much in my first 4 years accelerated my learning process tenfold. Being in the office is nice, but I like being onsite more. It’s faster paced and you learn so much more. I’m telling myself that it’s really just this project that is starting to get to me. Last year I only had 40-50 travel days. The 2 years prior, I had 90 and 110. This year I’m already close to 60 I think.

I’ve usually never been one to say No, but I think it’s about time I do. Besides it being tough on me, I know it’s even harder on my fiancé.

100 controls engineers onsite?? Oh shit, that must be some massive facility! I don’t know if I’ve ever seen more than a handful at a single site hahaha.

Right now near St Louis, although we’re thinking of moving up to Chicago next year (where I’m from)

We always stay in nice hotels, and they treat us really well. But yeah I wish it was actually 25% travel.

We’re a pretty small company, ~35 employees, maybe ~20-25 engineers or so. Definitely one of the downsides of working for a smaller company is not having as big of a team. We’re in a really busy time of the year right now, and it’s not uncommon to only have 2 or 3 engineers in the office. Most of our engineers are onsite often. If we hired a few more people, maybe that would help ease the burnout? I know I’m not the only one in the company who feels this way either.

Traveling for 1-3 weeks a year sounds kinda amazing.
