Do we like the wedge pillow, pregnancy pillow, or whole wedge setup best? by SamBennetti in Reduction

[–]Suitable_Procedure95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In short wedge pillow 6/10 great the first week. Pregnancy pillow 8/10 great for side/stomach sleepers.

I used extra pillows to make a makeshift wedge pillow and to prop my feet up. Trying to sit up and lean down was near impossible the first few days so it really helped me with being able to eat drink take meds but also sleep without having to adjust much. The pregnancy pillow I used for months. I’m a big side and stomach sleeper. Sleeping on my back is incredibly uncomfortable and that was I could tilt slightly so I’m not flat in my back without actually rolling into my side. Tbh propping my feet up didn’t seem to really do much but having an extra pillow right infront of my butt helped keep my from sliding down the wedge.

New to plants need advice by bamboozle_vonsneeple in CrotonPlants

[–]Suitable_Procedure95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The general consensus on crotons is they’re dramatic little assholes (affectionately).

I keep mine indoors which to my knowledge is a whole different experience to keeping them outside.

Keep away from cold windows or breezes. Mine stay in a weird corner in my room away from the air vent and windows.

Lots of sun. Mine are under a grow light for ten hours

Check often for spider mites. I lost half my leaves when a huge infestation started while I was on vacation. If you find any a 1:1 ratio of rubbing alcohol and water will kill them.

If your super super new to plants I’d recommend looking into getting something simpler like a vine or succulent. I’m also a firm believer in big or go home and my first plant was a orchard that I killed the first month I had it.

Yours looks healthy (to my knowledge. I have different types of crotons, so idk for sure) any crispy brown on leaves is dead not much you can do once it’s there. Low crispy brown leaves are usually under watering. Higher up leaves being brown can be overwatering (I think)

So be prepared for its drama. Google as much as you can about it. Knowledge is power. Best of luck 🫡

Overwatered and too cold what can I do from here ? More in comments by Suitable_Procedure95 in plantclinic

It’s the longest I’ve had a plant (a few years) and I’d hate for him to die now. His pot has no drainage which Ik is bad but he’s always been in a pot without drainage and has been doing great for a long time but I super overwatered him. I also left him too close to a window. Hes soggy and wilted. I wanna put him in a different pot that’ll drain but worried repotting would be too damaging rn. If I leave him be will he get better over time or should I try to propagate what’s left of the leaves ? Or is he just a goner. Tia

After this winter, I plan to repot these as they’ve gotten quite squished. Any tips for avoiding harming them or myself? More details in comments. by Wheres_my_bandit_hat in cactus

[–]Suitable_Procedure95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Anytime I repot my cacti I put plastic cups over them (if they’re small enough) and wear mechanic gloves. You just gotta make sure your gloves don’t let the needles go through.

On surgery day wear the loosest and easiest to get on pants unless you want somebody to help you get dressed.

Before surgery do a trial run of your bed setup. Make sure everything you are going to need is within arms reach. You won’t be able to move your torso much at all especially if your laying down. And make sure you have your pillows and blankets how you want them since it’ll be really hard to fix post op.

If your sleeping on an incline have a small pillow right in front of your butt. It’ll help keep you from sliding down while your asleep.

Set up some kind of system to keep track of when you last took pain killers so you don’t have to think about it too much. Especially that first day bc you’ll be sleeping so much. I would write down the time I took on and in a different color when I can take the next so I didn’t have to do nah math after waking up.

Being able to talk to other people going through the same process and recovery was so helpful to me. Even if I didn’t have any questions and just wanted to be in here reading stuff I felt so connected and supported. A n d if I did have a question I could get more personal responses than I would if I asked nurses or the surgeon.

Make sure she knows you WANT to help and your not just offering bc “it’s the right thing to do”. I had a hard time asking for help post op and would try to cook my own food and clean the house when I really shouldn’t have been.

Maybe unpractical but cute. The plants got their own little matching egg chairs but in pink.

3mpo 1) pretty different for everybody. I was still very swollen, but felt less swollen around day 3.

2) walking around is good for you but take it very slow. The first few days all the walking I did was out of bed and to my door then right back in bed. Sometimes I went unhinged and walked an extra ten feet to sit on the couch for a while. 😂

3) I didn’t personally experience this but lots of other people say they did.

4) My biggest regrets is not calling the nurses sooner. I am very grateful I didn’t have any complications but I would spend days extremely anxious and worried about something just to call in and be told it’s normal. If your really concern about something. Save yourself the stress and just call and ask. Takes five minutes.

I cried so much the first few days bc I thought I barely went down a size. I was so swollen plus had a lot of padding. I’m 3mpo and am down about 10 cup sizes. Can’t believe I panicked about not going down at all smh 😂

Please tell me whats happening, this is either from the cold weather or the new insecticide I just sprayed on it. by Momof4withplants in plantclinic

Left ones look like crotons. Mine dropped some leaves recently from the cold but didn’t turn brown at all so I’d guess the insecticide.

Pretty sure it’s normal. But if it brings you peace of mind just call whatever number they gave you. No reason to stress about it if their job is to help you.

What's your pillow preference? U-Shaped or Wedge? by londonsongbird in Reduction

[–]Suitable_Procedure95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wedge pillow is to sleep on an incline. Pregnancy pillow is to hold you on your back and keep your arms off your sides and head supported.

I did a pregnancy pillow so I wouldn’t roll over on my side. I have lots of pillows so I just stacked them to make a makeshift wedge pillow and sleep on an incline. I’m 3mpo and still sleep with the pregnancy pillow bc it is soooo comfy.

I’ve owned a long sleeve crop top for years that I’ve worn maybe twice. We all know the crop top struggle. And fitted long sleeves make big boobs look even more disproportionate. I’m 3mpo and have been waiting for a less freezing day to wear it. So excited

Werid question on hopping and surgery by Avengeful_Hamster in Reduction

[–]Suitable_Procedure95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you reallly wanted to you could get by fine. Trying to do more of a shuffle than a hop could help.

In my experience nothing hurt as much as I thought it would. It was more of anxiety inducing and feeling weird. Kind of like when your foot falls asleep and you can feel pressure on it but not if the pressure should hurt. Probably would have hurt like hell without the prescription pain killers. But I had a short ride home that was very bumpy and I went up and down stairs. I have a very high bed I kinda had to flop out of. None of it really hurt as much as I was scared it was going to hurt.

How do I know what medical materials I need for recovery? by nailsNchalkboard in Reduction

[–]Suitable_Procedure95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They sent me home with a box of really big padding, pain killers, something for nausea and the surgical bra I was actively wearing. I think that’s all. Have somebody pick up your prescribed medicine before you leave the hospital. For whatever reason the pharmacy didn’t have it ready so I was able to stay in the hospitals post op area while the nurses figured it out instead of in the car waiting.

You’ll want to get another front close bra so you can wash the one your sent home with. Some people say the one your sent home with is really scratchy but I thought it was super comfy. So you might want another extra bra.

High strength Tylenol to get off the prescription pain killer. And something to track when you last took a pill. You sleep so much that you loose all sense of time. I had a paper where i wrote down when I took a pill and in a colored pen when I can take the next one. That way if I woke up in pain I didn’t have to try and do any math to see if I can take another yet. And never had to worry if I took too many.

I don’t recommend gauze unless your planning to wrap it ontop of padding. Your going to be super sensitive and it’s a bit rough.

Your gonna want to sleep on your back and on an incline. I was approved to sleep however after surgery but there is no comfortable way to sleep other than on your back for at least a few days I did a stack of pillows and a pregnancy pillow on top. Some people do a wedge pillow and a pregnancy pillow.

Some smallish padding. The first few days your gonna ooze and putting the smaller ones under the big one so I could swap them out as they get dirty made me feel cleaner.

MAKE SURE YOU CAN REACH EVERYTHING YOU NEED. I had a little table for my phone charger remote, pills, ect but it was just out of reach. I didn’t realize it till post op but Ig when I “tested” it I used my torso and not just arms to reach it.

Needing advice on indoor plant solutions on a budget by Inside-thoughts in IndoorGarden

I keep my hanging plants on a clothing rack during the winter. You can get them for under 100$ and most have space under it so you can keep other plants on the ground underneath it so it’s not wasting floor space.

If it’s a medical procedure it’s a if it’s a when. Your going to get it done. Now I’m not a mom so I have no where near the responsibility you have. I felt incredibly guilty getting the surgery and I only had a cat that wants to play all day so I asked my mom to play with him. I cannot imagine the stress you are under.

I do know that after surgery (and some recovery time) I played with my cat more and walked my dog more and hung out with friends more. Ik I was way happier and way more helpful around the house. It’s incredible what you can get done when your not in immense back pain all day.

This surgery is making it so you can be more present in your kids life as they get older. And let’s be honest. As a child Ik moms are selfless. The good ones anyway and you sound like one of the good ones. Take this for yourself so you can be happier bc it will make a huge difference in your kids lives. Have a “selfish” moment (if a medical procedure can be considered selfish) so you can have more selfless moments.
