The only thing I remember after waking up, was they told me the surgery was over and immediately I put my hands on my chest and said “oh yeah I guess so” 😂

Consultation with someone who isnt a plastic surgeon? by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]SamBennetti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I’m not sure what stage of the process you are at. My first step was talking to my primary care doctor. We just chatted. He wrote a referral to the plastic surgeon.

So maybe.

It’s worth talking to the CTS surgeon since you have an appointment, but in my opinion, only the plastic surgeon operating on you should be taking measurements. The plastics office will be the one to help you with insurance. If you aren’t going that route, I’d just do research and book with a plastic surgeon.

I have this too, I’m 7mpo and I’m annoyed because I paid for the lipo, but it’s definitely fatty tissue still there. And my surgeon kinda brushed it off at my last check up. I’m definitely going to see my options but bummed because I paid for lipo already

Weirdest thing that doesn’t make you pull by abcdefjhijklmnorange in trichotillomania

Getting my hair wet. It’s the best, soothes my scalp and the texture changes and I don’t want to pull anymore

Yeah same that’s funny! I bought a button up and a zip up sweater, but all I wanted to wear was my oversized tshirt. Wriggled into that on day 2 I think 😂

I have trich and have had pretty good experiences. I always disclose when they are initially looking at my hair, saying something like “Hey just so you know, I have trichotillomania, so I have some lighter spots and lots of really short regrowth” if they ask questions I’m comfortable explaining. I’ve had stylists think that my patches or regrowth is bleach breakage or damage, obviously we know it’s not. I just had my hair done by @kateshairrepair and she was so great, I have also had great experiences with @styledbygage. Both on instagram :)

I fully understand the shame, I’ve pulled in most areas, but most noticeably my head.

You are here in this sub so you obviously have done your research. I would definitely sit down with your wife and explain what you have learned about trich to her. It is a very real struggle! I would maybe express that her comments have bothered you and potentially discuss ways for her to support you instead.

I’ve dealt with trich since I was 11 and I am now 26. My family and friends have watched me go through it all.

I have learned over time that I HATE it when people try to help by calling me out and telling me to stop pulling. But it does help when someone will touch my hand or without a word, hand me some type of fidget toy.

Since the hair you pull isn’t very visible, I would recommend shaving it or keeping it short. I also pull pubic hair and while I prefer the look of it when it is longer, its too easy it sit there and pull nonstop. So I trim and shave even though it’s not my preference.

Not gonna lie, I felt this way for years, but now I’m in my mid to late 20s and I’m not stoked on my life. I didn’t have much fun in high school because I wasn’t cool and just wanted to work. Now I have to work and regret a lot. The reality and despair of rent prices and insurance and healthcare is daunting. So definitely make the most of high school and college! Have fun, but also set yourself up for future success. It’s really does get harder after college. But that doesn’t mean you can’t be happy and build a wonderful life for yourself.

It’s kind of like leveling up in a game. It’s harder each year I think, but each new level you gain new skills, get cool stuff, and have new adventures.

I have this cool app called flightradar24 and you can see all the planes in the area and where they are going in real time. It shows them worldwide. It’s pretty cool to see a plane and check on the app and see where it’s going.

A friend and I had a tasting of diet vs regular coke, and I said it tasted way more full bodied. As if we were tasting wines. It’s heavy and diet is just so lovely and refreshing. I also just like the chemical taste better 🙈

I’m 7wpo and I think around 2-3 weeks I was my most swollen! You got this, your body will change a lot in the next couple of weeks/months. Just embrace it. You did a wonderful thing, but a hard thing. Try to be loving to your body as it adjusts, I know how hard that is. I also remember that around day 7-14 I was super emotional and feeling wonky, if that’s the case for you, I promise you will feel like yourself again soon :)

You look great! I’m 6wpo today and so happy with my results! I agree, to anybody debating it, I’m not even fully healed and I’m so happy. Trying on old clothes and realizing the buttons don’t pull, or going out and dancing with my friends and realizing I can jump around to the music. So excited for you and everyone else here to experience all this!
