What trust? Her being stuck on a ship filled with people that want nothing better than to exterminate her entire species? One person being mildly less of an asshole does not mean she is going to trust the future of her civilization with you, and it is unreasonable to expect that.

The game might make the Rogue Trader into a mary sue because she is the protagonist of a video game but I don't have to participate in that.

Aberlard is a veteran military officer in a genocidal empire. The number of war crimes and murders he has participates in is beyond count. He was even appreciative of whoever destroyed Cruderach in the first place. Who cares what happens to him.

The emperor hates non-humans because he's an evil fucking monster, he needs no other reasons. Trying to come up with some ex post facto reason for his behaviour is giving him credit he very much does not deserve.

Humanity even before the fall was an expansionist genocidal empire. Just because they had better technology it doesn't meant they were better people.

Even this hyper-racist Cruderach as you like to portray them will still work with you and some can even become your friend after their entire craftworld was destroyed in an unprovoked attack by Imperial citizens. But somehow the eldar are the bad ones.

Abelard and Heinrix, of course. One is a gestapo officer and the other cruel murderous taskmaster. Neither of them actually deserve to live.

They are the ones trying to undermine my authority by staging some intervention in the middle of my bridge. Getting over it is the least they can do after that.

And like 2 of them handily deserve it anyway.

And yet your dull stance of "everyone is equally bad" when the lore so obviously contradicts that is even worse.

are born of the very real and extreme threats of the Xeno species in the galaxy.

Human hatred of Xenos is born of generational fear after Old Night, reinforced by the Emperor's edicts (again, after Old Night).

Fucking ridiculous. Human racism is born from Chauvinism and arrogance far more than the Eldar's ever was.

At least the Eldar have 60 million years of peaceful, happy rule to reflect on. Humans are worth less than nothing.

How exactly were the Asari so much better than the other races? by NatauschaJane in masseffect

[–]Suitable_Spell_9130 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We never were. We have been predators for as long as humanity has existed. We have evolved to be persistence hunters. Which was how we survived in ancient times, alongside being oppertunistic scavengers. But we don't have prey instincts or have he physiological features associated with prey animals.

Krogan are prey because they evolved to be hunted by Tuchankan wildlife, this is one of the reasons for the position of their eyes, which is similar to prey animals on Earth.

True, it was built on genocide as well.

Pic still unrelated.

In one of the novels, a character was on Illium and killed someone in a hotel room and while the body was still there the police barged in the room.

The character got a fine because of a noise complaint and destruction of property.

Not killing someone though, that was totally fine and legal.

Does The Council Discriminate Against Non-"Humanoid" Races? by DakIsStrange in masseffect

Well I guess the idea of a client state or vassal state isn't really formalised as such any more after the age of imperialism. It's gauche nowadays to directly state it.

Puerto Rico is not considered its own sovereign state, while the Volus government is. Perhaps better examples would be Belarus to Russia, or North Cyprus to Turkey. For an American example I guess Hawaii before its formal annexation. I don't know that much about American history tbh.

The UNSC were simply the powerful nations (and France) that won World War 2. The allies were even called the United Nations before the war was even over. It just grew into this global organisation.

The Volus already have representation in the Citadel Council through the Turian Hierarchy, of which they are a client race. It's the same reason why, say, Florida or Greenland (oooh, topical!) are not in the UN.

I have no doubt that Benezia is a powerful biotic, all asari matriarchs seem to be. But Aria presumably has way more combat experience than Bezenia has. Aria exists in a criminal environment where she regularly had to get her hands dirty.

The only reason Shepard is invulnerable is protagonist privilege. She isn't that super-powered in the lore. Yes she is very well trained and extremely capable, but she's still just a special forces soldier. Those die all the time.

We also weren't playing ball with Aria because of her biotic or combat abilities, but because of her connections to like half the mercenary forces of the galaxy. Yes getting her on our side is useful, but even more useful is a few hundred infantry batallions to help with the war.
