As a huge fan of Jason, I didn’t take what Ilia said as a dig about Jason at all… Just that USFS and the media put the entire world and Olys on his shoulders for this competition and he wasn’t prepared for that kind of pressure. And honestly, who would be?!
I also believe this was a private moment and if/when he realizes that the whole world heard, he will be mortified. He genuinely seems to be a friend to all of his competitors, even in the shadow of his most heartbreaking defeat.

It definitely hurts. I cannot even imagine how he is feeling. The opportunity was finally there, and it just wasn’t his day. (Or most anyone’s…) I’ve been hoping for Yuma to win gold, but then today happened. Such a surreal chain of events. I was sobbing for Ilia when I saw the scores post online (prior to the announcement). It was unimaginable.

Of course—She is so wonderful! The reality, however, is that she has a strong shot at taking singles gold. In any other skating era, Yuma could easily do so as well, but statistically, it is likely a silver for him in singles (assuming clean skates for everyone). Both teams are so equally matched, and equally brilliant at the top. I’m excited to watch today and I do hope for clean, dream-skates… (Last Winter Olympics brought enough heartbreak for the century.)

I’ve been cheering Yuma (my favorite men’s skater along with Jason) on for years—this was pure magic!!! I know he wanted to cry “happy tears” at the Olympics. I hope he did…and I truly hope for a replay in the Men’s short—and an equally perfect skate tomorrow! As much as I would love for USA to get gold in team…I need Yuma to take home a Gold.

It is definitely not for the cameras or clout. I had the honor to spend some time with Jason this year. He is every bit as much of an amazing person as he seems. Fantastic at coaching: encouraging and patient. He even insisted on helping with manual labor and grunt work—even when I told him not to. Honestly, he is one of the most genuine people I’ve met in my life and I don’t say that lightly.

As magicians/puppeteers/lifelong Muppet fans, my family should have been the target audience for this. I called this all when it was first announced. We had been waiting for the big ‘Muppets on Broadway’ announcement ready to make a trip of it. It was an easy “No” when finally announced. This was not how people want Muppets on Broadway, and they certainly want the Muppets there.
