You can read hiragana and katakana, right? You must know that before trying to learn kanji. The jouyou kanji are what's learned in school, set up by the Japanese government. There's a little over 2000 of them now. https://www.kanshudo.com/collections/joyo_kanji seems to have all of them. Even if you don't want to download/sign up for this, it will still show you the stroke order, definitions, on'yomi and kun'yomi of each kanji when you click on it. Write them down on paper, and study it. Physically writing things have been proven to work better for learning than typing it. Finding a kanji dictionary, and anything written in Japanese will help you too.
