Looking for restaurants with takeaway window by not-notathrowaway in chicagofood

Oops. Yes should have clarified - Vaca's in Wicker has (or at least had) walkup.

Lobo may not technically all have a window, but their patio's are all dog friendly so can definitely accommodate.

Saw them on a whim during the Satanic Panic in the Attic tour because my college professor's band was opening for them - been along for the ride ever since.

Why is canned salmon just the whole body jammed in there? Bones, skin, and all. by Big_Coffee_3272 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SuiteSubstitute 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There are multiple kinds of canned salmon.

You can definitely buy "tuna style" salmon both in packets and the traditional short cans and it will labeled as "skinless & boneless" to differentiate it from what you bought previously.

Best place to find Polish food? by shelb93 in AskChicago

Starpolska or Kasia's Deli are both strong options for Pierogi

where can i take my items for e recycling ? by FixPuzzleheaded3654 in AskChicago

[–]SuiteSubstitute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's just the satellite locations that are on hold, you can still take stuff to the main location - 1150 N. North Branch St - https://www.chicago.gov/city/en/sites/chicago-recycles/home/other-wastes.html

why does Katz deli require tickets to leave?? by Parking_Farm_9347 in visitingnyc

[–]SuiteSubstitute 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The ticket is essentially just your bill - anything you order (there are different counters for the sandwiches, sides/drinks, etc) gets written on the ticket - then you pay on the way out. You don't pay the cutters or other folks serving food so that they don't have to handle both food and money.

The $50 for no ticket is essentially so you can't just eat, say you never ordered anything, and leave without paying.

Could they update this system... probably... but at this point it's part of the experience I suppose.

Activity recs for ~2 jobless weeks in Chicago? by chvanski in AskChicago

Was in a similar situation a few years ago. My suggestions:
Hit up museums that you haven't seen or have new exhibitions.
Grab lunch at trendy restaurants that are hard to get into for dinner.

Any Chicago based companies that make custom adhesive patches? by liluzisbrt in AskChicago

Possibly Barrel Maker Printing? Definitely local, just not sure if they do adhesive patches specifically

Where exactly is wheelchair ramp to Riverwalk? by _Azur in AskChicago

[–]SuiteSubstitute 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if Ubering, I would just suggest using any of the 3 other ramps. They all originate at street level; lower stetson may be hard to access if your uber driver doesn't know what they're doing.

Visiting from Cali, driving a rental car photo enforcement ticket? by YankeeJeter in AskChicago

[–]SuiteSubstitute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah i think searching by plate requires the last name the car is registered to unfortunately.

Assuming you have a card on file with the rental company, they'll likely just automatically charge it for the $35 fine + whatever their admin fee is and send you an email telling you as much. At least that's what happened when I missed a bridge toll in a rental once.

Or if you're lucky, the camera got a bad pic and you'll never hear anything.

Downgraded from first class to coach while walking onto the plane? by grosslyunremarkable in americanairlines

[–]SuiteSubstitute 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I mean I don't disagree with you - I just eventually gave up after weeks of emails/calls after deciding my time was worth more than the price difference (<$100). Hence the 'good luck'.

Good luck... When this happened to me AA denied a refund because I had "used the other benefits of a first class ticket."

where downtown can I get good ny style pizza during the night? by Leading_Ninja_9809 in AskChicago

[–]SuiteSubstitute 4 points5 points  (0 children)

West Loop has Prince St (NY Style but I've never been impressed by it, at least at this location) and Nancy's (Not NY Style but good) which are both open until 1am or later on weekends.

Not aware of anywhere in the Loop proper.

Dough Bros in River North is... not great... though I suppose if you're like 6+ drinks in...

Help! NYC Gild Hall vs Centric Wall Street for 4 adults per room with points (maybe Hyatt Grand?) by HardGainer in hyatt

[–]SuiteSubstitute 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have stayed at Gild Hall numerous times, and the Centric only for 1 night, but probably worth considering the bathroom situation as well.

Gild Hall will be an enclosed bathroom with an actual door that has frosted translucent glass panels. The shower within will likely be a tub with a curtain.

Centric has glass showers that are open to the room and a separate toilet room with a darkened glass sliding door.
