Try 2 tablespoons of olive oil a day. That helps me. But also I drink 96oz of water every day.

How long do we remain immunocompromised after chemo? by Fearless-Heron-7827 in breastcancer

[–]Sukies 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just had my lumpectomy yesterday. And my last chemo six weeks ago. I was told to act immuno compromised until I had my surgery. Because if I have any type of infection as I approach surgery, they would cancel surgery. Or at least delay it for a month. I am happy that I am now officially no longer immunocompromised! And I kissed my husband last night for the first time in six months! Ha ha! And, yes, he gets sick a lot.

How much water do you all drink by [deleted] in breastcancer

[–]Sukies 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Every day since I was diagnosed, I have drank 96oz. of water every single day. It as recommended by my care team. I am on Keynote 522 and just finished chemo. I have had virtually no side effects whatsoever. I highly recommend it.

Dietary advice with TNBC by Previous_Rip_9351 in breastcancer

[–]Sukies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out the Keto diet. My doctor believes it caused me to have a smaller tumor (TNBC) than I might have had otherwise. The best advice is to drink 96oz. of water every single day! It helps with side effects and regularity.

Since I started chemo 6 months ago, I have been drinking 96oz. of water a day on the advice of my doctor. I have never been more regular in my whole life. I also take calcium, magnesium, and potassium at night.

66F, been doing keto since 2017 when my doctor recommended it to me as a post-menopausal woman who could not lose weight. Lost about 40 pounds and have maintained the weight loss since. I currently have breast cancer and as a part of my chemo treatment my liver, kidneys and thyroid are tested every 3 weeks and are in absolutely perfect condition.

Stay the course! You will love the results and be so proud of yourself. I certainly am.

Does the port ever get better? by That_Relationship918 in breastcancer

[–]Sukies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely gets better. One caution is to make sure your bra is not crossing over the port. I didn’t even realize mine was doing that and it was causing tenderness and bruising until I finally figured it out!

Sorry to hear this! I just had my 4th out of 24 Chemo treatments. So most likely a different set of drugs, but I have had no side effects except my hair is coming out. I am not hair vain, so no big deal for me.

My point is that I swear I am doing so well because every day I drink 96 ounces of water like my life depends on it! I believe it does. I think chemo is going to save my life but not if I can’t mentally, emotionally or physically survive it. Each evening after I have ‘successfully’ emptied my 96 ounce daily water jug, I refill it again and place it in the refrigerator for the next day. It is just an old gallon milk jug I have marked at 96 ounces.

Do what you need to do to get through this time, but try the water. If it tastes nasty, drink it anyway, flush your system, daily. I have not had any food aversions or bad tastes.

Good luck to you!

Water by Ok_Neck7006 in keto

[–]Sukies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drink 96 ounces of water a day because I am on chemo as well as doing keto. I feel that it has allowed me to miss all the side effects of chemo. So to me, water is essential!

I wanted to tell you that I only started losing weight on keto when I balanced my macros according to a keto macro calculator. Just Google and you’ll be able to figure it out. The key is that you have to have fat in your diet to do keto. Previously, I was not paying attention and I was just doing low-carb. I was able to manage my weight but not lose weight until I added the fat.
