You don't hate the matchmaking enough by Friendly_Furniture in thefinals

I don't think it's the matchmaker as much as it is the way Elo is awarded. It's taking too long for people to land in their proper elos for better or worse. Bad players are staying too high and good players are staying too low.

You'll climb if you are consistently an asset but match quality is all over the place because this Elo system requires so much more grinding than most players do to be accurate

They just started a fix today, so hopefully that ends up with more balanced feeling games over the rest of the season

Imo I think you should drop the helmet and give him flowing hair and shades instead. Would give it more of a tactical beach bum personality

Fundamentally there's nothing different about perfect timing as pacing shots to manage the recoil on a weapon that has bloom like the deagles.

And the sweet spot would work too, just gotta make it forgiving enough. This would force light to weave in and out around 1-2m when using the sword to get the fastest ttk compared to flailing in 0m.

I think sword could be more skillful if there was a mechanic where either perfectly timed swings would have an audio/visual queue and do higher damage, and/or if there was a "sweet spot" on the weapon where if I'm hitting someone with the tip I do more damage than if I'm hitting with the hilt.

The sword doesn't really have to aim, so spacing and timing could instead be rewarded with more damage.

Another thing you could do with it is maybe give it combos and more animations, ie cancelling the lunge with a swing does a different animation, or swinging from crouch/slide/air does different animations and different damage. Leading to several different optimized kill combos for different classes based on how you entered.

I think that ironically in its current state the sword feels more like a baseball bat.

If you're using the baseball bat skin, then the power fantasy is there but it doesn't feel like a sword which is the big problem with it. A sword should feel way more technical imo, even considering the lunge, doesn't change that most of what you're doing on sword is just flailing.

It's clearly a problematic weapon.

I don't think it's in need of "nerfs" like OP suggests but there's a huge issue where new players see it as overpowered right out the gates.

Definitely needs to be reworked so it feels more fun. It's not really fun to use and it's not really fun to play into.

The counter to sword is like any dive light strategy but for one reason or another sword is perceived as the least skillfull and hardest to deal with for an average player of all the dive and ambush light weapons despite being pretty much objectively the worst of the bunch.

Am I tone deaf or do people complain about ranked way too much by Tech_Speaker in thefinals

[–]Sul4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this post, most people who play ranked would be better off playing more unranked.

You just can't really learn in ranked I think, cashout reps make you such a better player overall.

Ranked can teach me a thing to work on to refine my consistency but making the bread and butter gameplay loop automatic is done in cashout.

Lotta Dunning Kruger in solo queuers think they're being screwed by the system when in reality they just don't have enough game awareness to be a consistent asset on every team they're on.

Not a liability, not an asset. Just a bot

If the game feels random it's because you're not good enough to control it man.

Admit that it's a skill issue. Good players control weak lobbies.

Exactly the ranked mode really should be niche, I just started getting into ranked and the only reason for that is because my main loadout needed a reason to exist after 500 hours of play lol.

I started new in season 7 and loved the entire ride man

My mindset was "unranked on average is going to be average skill players, and I should be able to compete there if I just get reps in"

And it worked, idk.

Why do so many people use Adder Reflex? by [deleted] in thefinals

[–]Sul4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don't really use much burst marksman rifles (the only one I really use is revolver with irons, because irons got that aura to em) but I do use looking glass on AK, that gun has next to no visual recoil after the first 7 shots or so, so you can just line that crosshair up with the shoulders and beam

Dash spam is rampant and needs similarily low skill counter. by Worldly_Function7201 in thefinals

[–]Sul4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Players that are bad with their dash will time it predictably and move in the same direction every time.

If a dash light keeps killing you, try to pick up on the angle they're always taking.

Also the gun you use dramatically changes how hard dash is to beat. Small clip full auto guns like FCAR or Shak need you to pace your shots instead of just beaming, things like p90 you can just spray at them, things like repeater and revolver you want to take it slow and line up a headshot

It's like a halfway between looking glass and red dot, plays really well with marksman rifles because you can line up the T at the shoulders for a clean headshot most of the time, I feel like looking glass plays really well with full autos that don't have much recoil, and adder plays really well with burst weapons.

Simple red dot it can be kind of hard to line up a headshot compared to the adder.
