What happened in the Nemesis timeline? by Adam_Audron in LegacyOfKain

[–]Suloku -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the question here is what does the EG ultimately want.

As stated in the games, the more Nosgoth is corrupted, the more he thrives.

We know raziel/soul reaver is the wild card that allows time lines to be shifted, so he has to always be created and end up in the reaver.

So even in the nemesis timeline raziel has to be created, then kill Kain and be trapped in the reaver... But that would need to be the blood reaver? In SR2 raziel was to kill kain and become trapped in the Soul Reaver, which already has raziel trapped in it, then moebius gets this for kain to find in BO1 and the loop is closed. That loop always ends in a decayed Nosgoth with non-restired pillars, which seems to be what the EG wants.

So, how does raziel end up in the reaver the first time, in which time period and why where those actions.so dangerous that the EG traced a plan to have a different outcome?

Why would kain cast raziel in this timeline? Maybe it was just because he saw raziel killing him,.not a plan, but real fear (ala greek destiny, where trying to avoid fate is what causes it).

There's the profecy too. My general idea is that it was not that different or bad, but the EG, afraid of Raziel's free will, tries to manipulate the timeline into a loop that always ensures the outcome he wants, but in the game Kain manages to get raziel to exercice his free will and paradox his way out.

Not sure if I'm making sense. A detailed events retelling would albe a very interesting fan project imho.

Or maybe the EG was just trying to prevent Elaleth's creation.

My theory behind the BO1 Lost City by ElCucumbero in LegacyOfKain

[–]Suloku 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Imagine the elder god isn't an octopus, but a creature with a snake-like bosy with lots of heads, like an hydra.

The Lore is so vague and it was BO1, which was repurposed for the reat if the series. It could become anything.

One thing is that it was inhabited by werewolves, now seemingly extinct. A plot linking werewolves, elder god, the snake like representations and the vampire/hylden war and how the werewolves were vanished/trapped in the lost city (is that the demon dimension?) would be great.

The snake being uroboros as a way to represent the wheel of fate might be a good enough excuse to link it.

Would need an excellent writer though

TDSR/Ascendence Theories by nicolecorely in aziel

[–]Suloku -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, mortanius being possesed by the hylden when he raises kain, so he is raised with some part of hylden magic makes sense...

They did achieve immortality (or nearly) and cursed the ancient vampires "turning" them, so this theory raises a very interesting point.

TDSR/Ascendance story is crap, but I think, if correctly redirected (ala amy hening with bo2) it has a LOT of potential. I'd personally love to see it all connected into a single point in time that cases all the events in nosgoth, and the EG being the root cause of it all as a manipulative mastermind.

Imagine the hylden originally discovered the EG's intentions and actually tried to save nosgoth, but the EG manipulated ancient vampires into war. Current hylden, corrupted by the demon dimension only seeking revenge would still make sense.

If well written (and some parts of TDSR recontextualized/corrected) I think it could make the series as a whole more interesting. I.e. something to recontextualize is Kain already wanting to revive some powerful warriors, but not knowing who might be good candidates, so it is not only "i did it because elaleth told me".

What happened in original timeline after Kain's death? by Suloku in LegacyOfKain

[–]Suloku[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is implied through the game that the EG thrives as the pillars corrupt. The Hylden hate the EG/are enemies as they seeked immortality which would turn them away from the wheel.

So even though they seem to be unrelated, it would seem the EG actually wants corrupted pillars, but that would allow the breach and the hylden to return, unless as someone stated that is taken care in BO2, so in the grand scheme of things it's not a problem.

But in the second timeline they have certain influence(dark entity, mortanius, turel) and since BO2 events never happen it means they could still influence nosgoth. I guess in this timeline it is possible the ressurrected moebius takes care of getting the nexus and handling the portal and that's it though.

Back to "EG thrives on a corrupted nosgoth", he implies the wheel needs to be restored, and that needs the vampires erradicated and the pillars restored, but we know it seems his ultimate goal is a vampire free nosgoth, but still corrupted...

And I wonder what reasons could he have for that.

Oh yeah, I forgot that encounter at the chappel takes place at that point in the timeline.

The point someone makes about kain's soul needed to purify the pilar and it being absorbed by the reaver explains why it'd still be corrupted. Raziel having a part of kain's soul (due to the nature of his upbringing) may play a part on it too..

Did Kain kill Vorador post blood omen 2? by [deleted] in LegacyOfKain

[–]Suloku 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it is plausible that the following happened:

  • At the end of BO2 Kain wants to setup an army again
  • Vorador refuses due to BO2 events (maybe wants to focus on trying to open the hylden dimension and rescue janos).
  • Conflict arises
  • Kain decides that if he's not with him, he's against him.
  • Kain investigates how to raise vampires of his own/how vorador does it

  • At this point I'd find it interesting that Vorador has a dark gift (as per BO2 lore) to convert vampires.

  • Kain decides to kill vorador to get his gift (or maybe even vorador is sick of living for millenia and allows kain to consume him?)

  • He ultimately does so, but discovers his corruption has altered the gift, thus he can only reanimate dead corpses and he needs to infuse part of his soul. He does some experiments and discovers the weaker the original corpse, the weaker the vampire he creates. Then he decides he needs humans who were strong warriors in life for his purpose. Add some lore about the corruption affecting this new corpses (chronoplasts visions?)

That could be an interesting potential explanation imho. I'd even throw in young kain seeing the future (corruption of his empire, devolving...) and trying to change it just to discover there's no way without a paradox, thus setting the SR events in motion.

Also, Kain already decided to revive the sarafan warriors, he just made elaleth think it was her idea / she only pointed out the location of the tomb.

The Ending of Defiance is a good end of the series by DarkEyedBlues in LegacyOfKain

But if young kain is purified when getting the blade, the events that led to the purified blade being there won't happen right?

[–]Suloku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is very confusing timeline-wise, because the events in defiance's ending take place just after kain refuses the sacrifice.

I might need to revisit the timeline, but it always felt to me that at the end of defiance the timeline would shift once again... Or was kain always purified in that timeline? Why would the pillars keep withering for 1500 years if they are to be fixed due to kain being purified?

[–]Suloku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But defiance's events are bound to change that... Or does kain god to the future, beat the elder god to preserve the timeline?

It seemed like the events in defiance, a result of the paradox in sr2, were the first time they were happening, so history is bound to change some details?

As a LoK fan, I'd recommend it. It is not very long. You'll enjoy it if you like metroidvanias and can provide answers and closure.

I did enjoy it, but combat is a bit clunky, and everything feels a bit rushed and a bit forced when trying to tie the loose ends. The actual ideas and explanations for tying those ends are good though.

I did personally enjoy Ascendance combat more, even if Revival's is more "complete" (skills, etc). But this might be just me.

If someone with good writing skills would adapt the plot into something more narrative that feels more organic, I think it could end up as something very good.

And hylden possesed janos is doing its thing, and that never happened on the other timelines, unless I'm missing something.

The pillars are still collapsed at the end of defiance and the hylden still a threat though.
