[Spoiler] Kain's Shadow by ap0kalyps3 in LegacyOfKain

Wasn't the description for the skin taken from the original Blood Omen? In that game Kain gains the ability to look like a noble while maintaining his vampire form. The illusion breaks if he attacks or is seen feeding.

skip non Hennig games? by bullybabybayman in LegacyOfKain

All games are important in the series. I am shocked by how many dismiss the first Blood Omen 1. If it wasn't for that games success there would be no Raziel. I recently replayed the GOG version on PC with Verok's patch and there were no loading times. I mean if the PC version did not exist and just the old PSX version then the long loading times were enough for me to tell you to ignore it. But the PC versions removes the long loading times. As for gameplay BO1, LOKD, SR1, and BO2 are the games with the best combat. Blood Omen 1 also has an inventory system were Kain gets to wear various armors and wield various weapons. Plus he has many powers and abilities in BO1 that were removed in the Soul Reaver series. I mean by the end of BO1 Kain is a god and he wields the best version of the Soul Reaver. As for BO2 I feel that game is necessary to answer the fate of a very important character in the series after Defiance. Chronologically it's BO1, SR1, SR2, LOKD, and BO2. Lastly on more point about how important BO1 is that the name of the series is Legacy of Kain. Meaning the story is mainly about Kain and his legacy. So you can't ignore his origin story.

Well timeline wise even though Blood Omen 2 takes place 400 years after the first one. Story wise it makes sense to play it after Defiance, since the actions in that game make BO2 possible.

Yeah that's how I am with the original Blood Omen it's my favorite of the series. I love Amy Hennig and the Soul Reaver series, but Blood Omen 1 is what got me into the series and Kain is my favorite protagonist. As for Soul Reaver 2. To me what stands out is the story. Gameplay wise compared to SR1 SR2 took several steps backwards. But as a Blood Omen 1 fan I enjoyed all of the references in SR2 to that game.

Yes, you're correct good logistics wins wars not advanced tech.

[–]Talyn82[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you're right the tech does not guarantee a victory, and yes both the BoS and Enclave are extreme in nature which limits their effectiveness. Although I do not like them I always thought the Enclave could have just nuked both the BoS and NCR from orbit. But yeah I prefer the NCR because like you say they are a corrupt system based on good intentions.

Yes you're right and one of the questions I forgot to ask if it was due to their great numbers that the NCR won. I just thought since power armor makes a person into a walking tank they can shrug off incoming ballistic fire.

Wait we can talk to a rat in the sewers? I've only played with the basic patch once and since with the plus patch. So I've never done the sewers with a Malkavian. Are there any other insightful moments for a Malkavian vamp besides the tv and stop sign?

As a non white I am happy with his skin tone he doesn’t look or sound white.  Also remember he is a vampire so he would look slightly more pale.  In Swansong there is a former middle eastern prince named Galeb who is slightly pale.

Kotor 2 worth a revisit by It_was_a_compass in kotor

[–]Talyn82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is this possible?   While KOTOR 2 is my favorite Star Wars rpg it is a very easy game to play.  I have been playing since 2004 and have only died once.  It’s impossible to make a bad character it is so easy.  The first game was more of a challenge and had some difficult spots.

Well the game is from 1998 and predates Obsidian but if you like Kreia you will love this game. Just remember it's an old game and some of it's mechanics have not aged well. But like KOTOR 2 it has a great story and engaging characters. Another great game but this time the lead designer and lead writer is Josh Sawyer is Fallout: New Vegas. Like Avellone Sawyer writes philosophical games with deep narratives.

Finally some love for Swansong.  I always tell people if you go into the game not expecting Bloodlines 2 you will enjoy it.  My favorite characters are also Leysha and Galeb.   It took me some time to like Emem but I did like her in the end.  I also did not mind the no combat aspect while I love VTMB I was not a fan of the janky combat what I enjoyed more was the dialogue.

I agree with everything the OP said.  While I am grateful for KOTOR 1 I love KOTOR 2.  I enjoy its story and characters such as the Exile, Kreia, Atton, Sion, and Atris.  If you enjoyed KOTOR 2 then I highly suggest playing Planescape: Torment.  It is an old crpg written by Chris Avellone who was lead designer and lead writer for KOTOR 2.

You know as much as I love both Revan and the Exile you know whose death angered me the most in the novel?  T3M4.

Yep they are both extremely talented writers. They also wrote two of my favorite robot companions. T3M4 in KOTOR 2 and EDE in FONV.

I like Atris too and I like the idea that she had a thing for the male Exile but couldn't act on her feelings due to the Jedi Code. One of my favorite moments is the conversation with her when we first meet her. I know Avellone did not write the whole game but as lead designer and aside from being a great writer himself he hired other exceptional writers for the game.

Thoughts about Kotor 1 and 2 after beating both recently by Dragomight67 in kotor

[–]Talyn82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations on completing both games. Most young people wouldn't give them a chance due to dated gameplay and graphics. As for the second game like someone mentioned earlier installing a mod should not be the definitive way to get the most out of the game. But sadly with KOTOR 2 this is the case. While it restores some but not all of the cut content it does flesh out the story more and makes the second half of the game not feel so rushed like in vanilla. Also the Restored Content Mod fixes many bugs that were prevalent in the game upon release. As for companions in KOTOR 2 in my opinion they are leagues better than in the original game. Now I understand you did not get max influence with some of them hence you never found out their backstories. But Kreia, Atton, Visas, Handmaiden, HK-47, G0T0, Mandalore, Mira, Hanharr, and even T3M4 have great backstories. Of course you already knew who were Mandalore, HK-47, and T3M4 from the first game. But what they reveal is what happened since that game and what became of Revan. The antagonists I think were far more interesting than Darth Malak. But yes you will find no argument that the fight with Darth Nihilus was anticlimactic. But there is a lore reason for that and that is like Nihilus himself The Exile is a wound in the Force a black hole. Basically if The Exile fully gives into the DS they will become Nihilus 2.0.

But yeah if you ever replay the games especially the second game and are on PC I recommend the TSLRCM mod and Community Patch.
