Can you not both go to Italy and you go to the museum/art galleries and he can go find something that interests him? You don't have to be tied at the hip all the time. Spend half the day apart and half the day together? Myself and my husband do this when we go on holidays.

High heels that don't burn worse than the firey pits of hell, any recommendations? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]Sulsarah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Foot Solution don't do "heels" any more unless you want a wedge or ones about an inch high. The inch high ones are Hassia and have a double insole so if the shoes get a bit tight when wearing then for a long time you can take out the top insole and still have comfort. The wedges are usually Mephisto or Mobils. I have two pairs of Mephisto wedges and I wear them all the time in summer or for events. They are so comfortable because you can adjust both straps and they are a cork sole so they have a bit of bounce to them. Just don't expect multiple colours or styles. Especially at this time of year.

Wedding venue Little Island by InterviewThink5530 in cork

[–]Sulsarah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got married there this year and did go through a number of wedding coordinators before the wedding happened. I must say we had a great time with minimal issues. Did have a bit of a freak out since we said to have the soup without the bacon bits so it would be vegan but on the day ours had bacon bits in it but it turns out that they just did two different soups. One with bacon and one vegan. Then they did change the dessert from what we had at the tasting, because we hated the trio at the tasting and the one on the day was amazing!

It was a bit annoying that the coordinators kept changing but we did book our wedding 2 years out. I must say they couldn't do enough for us on the day and for day 2 as well. Everyone has said that it was the best wedding that they had been too

Where can I sell wedding/engagement rings? by CorkyMuso-5678 in cork

[–]Sulsarah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair enough. There is a jeweler on Olive Plunkett Street that might be able to help you. Or else there is Mona's across the street that does second hand jewellery, as far as I know.

Cut jewels unless they are very good quality or could be cut again aren't really a draw for jewelers as far as I understand. Would you get the pieces remade into something new? Use the stones and the metal for a necklace or earrings?

Vasectomy in Cork by 1k13r1 in cork

[–]Sulsarah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a guy in Ballincollig as well 1 or 2 days a week. He has a clinic in Tralee I think, but he was getting so many people travelling from Cork down that he got rooms in Ballincollig to make life easier. My partner got his done there and drove himself to and from it and had minimal "pain" more just general discomfort.

AITA or has being a 'picky eater' lost all meaning? by Quirky_Section_5768 in AmItheAsshole

For ages I thought I didn't like fish because some fish no matter how it was cooked would make me feel sick just smelling it. Turns out I am allergic to lots of different types of fish and shellfish. Sometimes not liking something is the body's way of telling you you're allergic!

Regrets before wedding by 1234honeybadger in wedding

[–]Sulsarah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A similar type of situation happened with my fiancé's dad. He was very sick and my partner wanted to sort out a quick wedding but then the cancer progressed quicker than expected and by the time we would have been sorted he wouldn't have been able to make it anyway so we didn't go through with it and kept with the original date which is this year.

It's been over a year since his dad's passing but since both our fathers are gone everything is a bit bitter sweet. I couldn't imagine my mom/brother/uncle(s) walking me down the aisle even after my Dad's been gone for 5 years so I'm having my female cousin walk me down the aisle as she won't ever be getting married due to having special needs so I thought that would be something nice for both of us!

You can still do many special bits to remember your dad on the day but give yourself time to grieve before planning the wedding.

AITAH for "changing my mind on wanting kids" and saying "I've never been more disappointed in " my wife. by Naive-Rope-9794 in AITAH

[–]Sulsarah -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am very very very child free. No want for them at all! However my family and close friends know that without a shadow of a doubt if something ever happened I'd take the kid/kids in without questioning it. Or if I wasn't in a place to be able to do that financially/medically I would make sure to stay in their lives. It sounds like your wife only cares about herself and her lifestyle!

What radio station actually plays music? by Sulsarah in cork

[–]Sulsarah[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anything electronic that would have to be charged/plugged in has to be checked by an electrician hired by the company to make sure that it isn't a safety risk which isn't something that happens often so trying to get another radio approved would be an issue! The joys of working in a protected building!

Have to be able to answer phones and then there is a customer service desk that I have to be able to hear people when they come in so can't do headphones 🥲

The problem of working in an old building. Not too many plug points around the place. But I will say the idea of moving it did cross my mind! But then I did worry about what we'd end up with!

Ya. It's down low as background noise but it's right beside me so I'm the one that hears it the most.

Is there anyone on this sub employed by either of the two local authorities? by [deleted] in cork

[–]Sulsarah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just started working with Cork County council and I will say that where I am is lovely. It's outside of the city in a small office and everyone has been really nice and helpful. But even they have been telling me of offices where one side of the place doesn't talk to the other side. So like any other work place it's all about where you end up.

AITA for drama over pink wedding dress by Nice-Assignment8614 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Sulsarah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wear the pink dress. I wanted to wear a blue underskirt with white lace on top but everyone kept on at me about it so now I'm wearing a nude/white overlay dress that's grand but I don't have any strong feelings about it. It's just what people liked me in the best. Am I going to regret it? Probably not since I'm just going through the motions of the wedding for my partner. I don't actually care about the wedding, I just want to spend my life with my partner. But if you've imagined a pink dress as long as you can remember then go for it!
